EA "cut their losses" when they gave this game to the C team. It's obvious they don't care about this franchise anymore, they wanted to milk it just a little bit more before the end and focus Bioware on making that bland looking Destiny clone instead.
I know for a fact that the books were a massive hit in Eastern Europe by the end of 90s. Meanwhile, at the time when the licensing deal was going down, Poland was not exactly known for quality video games. It's easy to see how he would misjudge the medium.
You'd think that with all the "social" functionality developers and console makers see fit to cram into their products we'd all be one big family by now. Anyway, I too lament the rarity of community servers nowadays. With them you could relatively easily find people with just the right skill and attitude to enjoy a game.
If by stone giants you mean big green guys, then that's not the first area in DS2, you went in the wrong direction. When you get there properly leveled they take like 3-4 hits to take down with a blunt weapon.
I feel like both Hitman 2016 and Mankind Divided were guinea pigs in some sort of AAA game business model experiment and they suffered greatly for it. Really not happy about this whole deal, it's no way to treat such important long-running IPs.
