Fallout 4. Streamlined into boredom oblivion. And in terms of writing an immense step back from New Vegas. Hell, ESO has better writing than Fallout 4.

There's a quick menu thing which I forgot how to bring up. You can heal quickly there. Also, there are upgrades that let you steal life, regen it, or get some back after a kill.

If this is true, then I may get it at some point. I still love WWII.

The reviews have largely confirmed my doubts and I really don't care to spend my time on another mediocre open-world game with no substance. Oh well, Bioware is not what it used to be and hasn't been for a long time, so I feel absolutely fine about passing on this.

@banefirelord: The quality of voice acting is indeed jarring. I don't believe Bioware and EA would hire community theater amateurs to voice their game, so the blame must lie with whoever was in charge of voice direction (if there was anyone at all). It feels like they went with the first take many times when they clearly shouldn't have, as if they were in a hurry. Now that I think about it, I have not seen voice work this bad in AAA game in a long time. Fallout 4 was kinda underwhelming in that regard, but not to this degree. Weird.

If it makes it any better, my main gripe with what I've seen so far is the writing. The bad animations and faces are funny, but the way the quality of Bioware's story, characters and dialogue has been going sharply downhill since DA2 is tragic. I really don't care if this game has an amazing multiplayer, there are tons of games with amazing multiplayer out right now, so I'm good. What I need is an immersive space opera RPG and this is like the only game doing it and completely not delivering with its writing. If it somehow gets way better after the initial bit I'll be damn surprised and might give it a try. But given what Bioware has been putting out in the last five years, I'm not getting my hopes up. It seems like a huge waste.

I don't know, maybe my face is just too tired.

It looks like a sci-fi B-movie with fidgeting unexpressive actors, who awkwardly stare forward and deliver their lines like they had no proper direction. Some of them don't even know how to walk, it seems.

See, at some point the mainstream audience and the industry have decided that, ew, isometric PoV and reading are lame and for old people. OK, but then you have to deliver with your acted out fully voiced cutscenes in order for me to be immersed. Early example of doing it right is VtM:B which was fully voiced and had believable for its time character expressions in dialogue. Recent good example is TW3 made by a company with far less resources than a publishing giant like EA. Some of the lines in that game are quite corny and there are some awkward animations in cutscenes, but in general they did a great job considering the scale they were working with. This game looks downright amateurish at many points, I've seen Garry's Mod videos with more believable animations and lipsync. All of that may have been forgivable, but the problem is seriously compounded by the kooky-quirky writing which lacks cleverness or subtlety.

If you're looking at this and saying "well, the combat looks awesome and I love the multiplayer" then clearly you are not looking for a role-playing experience here as I am.

I've been watching the streams, and, yeah, I don't think I'll be picking this up any time soon. If ever. Allegedly good combat is insufficient for me in a game that claims to be a RPG. The writing left a really bad taste in my mouth, and the animations and some of the voice acting are, to be frank, absolutely horrid. If the open world stuff proves to be DA:I-style MMO-lite experience then that's the nail in the coffin. Shame. If you can look past all that, by all means, enjoy the game, but this is definitely not my cup of green stuff.

I only ever liked Mass Effect 2, because 1 was way too clunky and 3 was surprisingly forgettable and boring for an alleged epic ending to a space opera trilogy. At least 2 had interesting characters and decent writing. Of the Persona games, I've played 2, 3 and 4, all of which I loved to various degrees. The prerelease materials shown so far for Andromeda have not convinced me they will do better than the third game, while P5 looks damn fun and exciting in comparison, so if you can only go with one franchise right now, I'd say Persona is the better choice.
