@Devil240Z:

I dunno about being bitter. I look forward to the story they have written, I've played every Project Ace game except the PSP Titltes and Sky Crawlers. Each one it was the story, comm chatter, and cutscenes that push you to the end.

The arcade feel and repetitiveness usually hits hard around chapter 6 to 7 in these games, that's what I have always been bitter about. Outside of the story elements they have always only changed it up with unique boss fights. So for them to take a new direction and add new game play features kinda gives me the feeling the repetition will be nowhere near as bad as previous titles.

What I don't like about this is that they already have this DLC planned out, well okay they have a plan that is lovely. But we still don't know that much about the game, and we are already getting details on the Seasonal Pass for DLC?

I prefer the route Polyphony Digital is taking. Unlike Need For Speed Shift, Dirt or Forza. They are still deciding what direction their DLC should take with Gran Turismo. While doing that they update the game, change up seasonal events, and what not. But also with this Forza 4 DLC, do these car packs even come with the AutoVista models? Obviously they can't come with the Clarkson commentary. Speaking of that not every car even has AutoVista, which is their most shown off feature still.

We know all about the Limited Edition, Pre-Orders, and now seasonal passes. But can someone point to absolute knowledge on what tracks are in the game? How about that 16 player multiplayer performance? etc. They know they already have me as a day one purchase guy. But as Marcus Fenix would say "AWWW C'MOON!".

As a general petrol head. This thread has cracked me up. The OP's question is basically "Gee do I want lucky charms or western family brand bag'oh'cereal".

Get back to the basics, ok so you want:

1. AWD

2. Hatch access.

Right off the bat, since you are digging on an STi I would say to look at a Volkswagen R32. But I don't even know if you want a manual or automatic transmission.

Seriously, if your willing to spend STi money there is a wonderful used market out there. Hell for new STi money you could look into an Infiniti G35 or an Audi A3. So take a step back and come at us with a real question. Know what your budget is, what you like, and what your willing to go for with insurance. Oh and lastly nothing is making it to 200k pleasantly especially with all original parts. Steering Rack, Brakes, Engine, Transmission, some electronics are going to get fixed no matter what brand.

I'm just a student in law school who aced Contract Law last semester, but an online click-wrap agreement cannot make you fully waive any legitimate constitutional rights you have to legal remedy. Period.

Sony is simply including phrasing in their user agreement that matches the same kind of thing you accept every day from your electric company, phone company, bank, gas company, cell phone provider, credit card company, etc.

Where are the angry protests in the streets over the greed and injustice of so many American businesses and utilities operators, gamers? No, it's much more cool to shake our internet fists at Sony... perspective is everything, my gaming peers.

Right on. This is exactly where my thoughts went when all of this was getting reported on. At least new people are being informed about ToS/EULA's in general. It also reminds me...well...I don't even want to think about the crap I signed to be a contractor for Sony. It was just as hefty as the paperwork for my previous contract with Microsoft.

You know. Now that I think about it. Wasn't the sole reason for the Classic Controller Pro for Monster Hunter Tri?

Monster Hunter gets people to do crazy shit.

I wanna be hopeful for this, since the DQ remakes on DS made me a fan and Dragon Quest IX is - no hyperbole - probably the best game that came out in 2010. It's the game people want JRPGs to be; the same charming art and beautiful music the genre is known for, but a progressive structure that pulls a lot from western RPGs. Giving AI routines to party members, no random battles, customizing party members with what felt like thousands of pieces of armor and weapons, loads of sidequests, intelligent and organic multiplayer and online features....it's a miracle that it was on the lowly DS hardware!

But DQX is insane sounding. First off, it's from Square's internal studio - and FFXIV has shown that they're not exactly dependable MMO powerhouse developers (probably why the Dragon Quest X announcement actually caused their stock to lower). Secondly, it's a Wii game coming out in 2012. AND it's online focused? None of that adds up.

It's nice to see that it's also coming to Wii U, which at least has a chance to be a lot healthier by the time it comes out, but still. So many things here will go wrong, even if the game itself is good - that's the nature of multiplayer focused games. If the community isn't there, it'll bomb. Even Monster Hunter couldn't make it work on Wii, in any country. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd effin' DESTROYED Monster Hunter Tri in Japan. Nintendo hardware is not the place you go to to attempt this kind of thing. And since it's an MMO, it's a turn off to anyone looking for a good RPG (much like how there are people not looking forward to The Old Republic because they want a KOTOR 3). Personally, I wish Level 5 was in charge of it again, and it was building on DQIX's style of "single player first, but with robust multiplayer and online support", AND that they were knocking it out for Wii U and PS3. DQ should just go multiplatform already. Square's dumb for keeping some of their series' console exclusive. At the very least, this will be interesting to watch....

Nice passion for DQ. Now that's a comment!

Alright just a point for "squares internal studio". We know that most of FFXIV was outsourced/contracted. Currently the work by the all internal studio on FFXIV is pretty good. Check out a little discussion on the site about it here. I'm not shifting the blame or anything though, it was Square's complete fuck up. On the other hand we see how Level 5 churned out White Knight Chronicles online component -- I am going to say it is a complete toss up on who can do a better job. Both are capable, but yeah I agree, I would rather see what Level 5 would do.

I also agree that this game should be on the PS3 as well, hey then it might actually get a N.A. release. There should just be a DQ game of some sort on PS3 already. The market in Japan ate up DQIX though, over 2million sold. I am thinking that is what is influencing DQX's direction. You bring up a great point about Monster Hunter Tri bombing though, if its true (where did you read that?).

@patrickklepek: 's mention of FFXI, and Square's great track record with that MMO, has little bearing in my opinion. Different time, people, etc. I don't think its going to effect DQX's outcome at all. If anything it only shows that Square Enix is capable of handily running a console mmorpg. So we know that DQX can be stable and run forever, haha. People forget that FFXI runs on PC, PS2, and Xbox 360 connected to the same servers.

Its true that DQ has limited appeal outside of Japan (DQIX bucked that trend). But I think in this case the appeal is even more limited given that its an online, subscription based game. It just adds up to much non-interest.

In the end. This just brings back painful memories of Level 5/Microsoft's canceled True Fantasy Live Online. NEVER FORGET.

I'm surprised this story is getting so much play on the net. This is pretty much the way it has been for Gran Turismo forever, they have never had a Porsche model. Obviously of course Turn 10 is making a stink about it, wanting to get the word out with the press. I'm going to miss the 914/6 the most in Forza 4, yes even more than the all mighty Porsche 962. Lastly they should have released this news earlier. This game ships in October they knew about this many months ago. Way to sit on it, and now distract from some real reveals. Yo does the 16 player MP work yet? Are you matching GT5's night/weather? lol

@EXCellR8 said:

way too much of this nonsense in racing games. it's the same in GT5 except polyphony said fuck you, modeled the cars, and branded them as "RUF"

Uhm. Not an "FU", its a work around. Also "RUF" is a very respected automobile company and has been around since the 1940's. They are not just some rebrand as others have posted. Their most famous for the Yellow Bird. I'm always surpised that no one has ever had Mathey or any Flying Lizard racing porsches in their games. Well Forza 3 had two Flying Lizard 911 GT3 RSR's which is was rad.

@SaintMits said:

Who the fuck wants a Porsche anyway?

I do.

@Megasoum said:

What Dan Greewalt didn't say in his interview though is that Microsoft holds the Ferrari license and won't share it with EA which is why there is no Ferraris at all in Shift 2. Double standard much?

There was a pretty good amount of Ferrari's in Shift 2. It was Shift 1 where they were only available as DLC and on the Xbox 360 (which was really fucking lame).

@QKT said:

all the porches were exactly the same anyway, never fun to drive.

The hell? I'm not going to argue whether you found a Porsche fun to drive. But You do realize they are not all exactly the same. Using Forza 3's roster as an example there is a big difference between a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS and oh I don't know a 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo.

@MordeaniisChaos said:

Anyway, I've always kind of hated Porches. Not only are they no where NEAR as sexy as everyone who cares about cars seems to think, they just aren't good cars. Not anymore, anywho. They have been falling further and further behind, with occasionally decent showing here and there.

A sweeping generalization of a car company primarily based on the fact you "kind of hate" them is exactly how that reads. I can't argue over the sexiness with you or how "good" you believe one to be. But how are they falling further behind? And behind what?

@sandwich_adjustment:

Rufs are not kits.

@jasondesante said:

RUF is owned by porsche, its like mazdasport (mazda) or nismo (nissan).

Nope, not the same. They are an independent car company, much like Alpina.

@Maelstrom said:

Sure, Microsoft just bought the exclusive rights to the Ferrari license not because they wanted to deny it to competitors but because they wanted to help the racing ecosystem. Right. I'm calling bullshit. Walk the walk Turn 10 before you start talking the talk with regards to other assholes wielding exclusive rights.

Exactly.

@Brodehouse said:

I can't imagine EA sending out a press release, "we really wanted to make a Warhammer 40k game, but THQ and Relic have exclusivity and won't let us, for shame."

This is why I don't jive with how Turn 10 is handling this. Obviously they have the advantage with the press and non petrol head gamers. They are the favorite. But I'm pretty sure I believe they are the only ones who could get away with making this news. For fucks sake they have Jalopnik in their pocket now.

Don't think I am going to stay up for it. Especially after seeing last nights matches archived on the official Dota2 channel on YouTube.

@Duffysidesaid:

This game is getting great reviews. I don't see why Giant Bomb wouldn't review it themselves: it's a slow-ass week.

Yeah I kinda get annoyed when they are all "no games are out, slow news, etc." and they leave a game review option in the dust. Maybe @MattBodega: will do it. But GB is all about getting that review out in the right window, I think if they were going to do one it would be up by now.
