So what survival mechanics does it actually have? I always thought the game looked pretty underwhelming but I was planning to pick it up just to see what it actually is. However, if I'm having to collect food and water and eat it every 3 minutes while managing the poisonous effects of it or some shit and then have to sleep every ten minutes then I am fucking out.
From what I gather, it's more survival in the sense of upgrading your gear/suit/ship to be better equipped when exploring harsh environments. There's not a hunger or sleep mechanic. It's the gameplay loop of finding resources in order to craft better gear that lets you explore and find more resources.
Cool, that sounds fine. Still not expecting the game to be great, but at least it will be bearable.

I think the Wii U was bloody fantastic. Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Pokken Tournament, Super Mario Maker, Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros., and Xenoblade Chronicles X are all great exclusives that still sit on my shelf, and I never even got around to picking up stuff like Splatoon or The Wonderful 101. Compare that with the XBox One and PS4 which I still haven't picked up as not a single exclusive has piqued my interest, and there's nothing there I can't run better on my PC.
The Wii U's issues were never quality, but quantity and marketing. 3D World is great, but a Mario game more in line with 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy is a huge hole in its library, as is the remaining lack of an original Zelda until next year. I don't really need to go into how Nintendo completely botched the marketing of the thing.
I'm angry, sad, and frustrated that I keep getting Eevees out of 10km eggs. Mostly I'm just mildly amused at the crybabies who can't stand something they're not into being popular.
