Fighting game characters who should make a comeback

A list of fighting game characters from various series who, for whatever reason, have been removed from their respective series that I feel should be brought back. Placed roughly in order of how much I'd like to see them brought back, though anyone on this list would be awesome to see.

List items

  • Origin: Street Fighter EX

    Last Appeared In: Street Fighter EX3

    Garuda had a very memorable presence as the "evil guy" of the Street Fighter EX series. He is the demonic embodiment of all the souls lost to the Dark Hadou, which should make sense to those savvy of Street Fighter's storyline. It basically means he's one bad mofo, lol. Beyond that, he has a very cool design and a lot of unique moves, I think it's a shame he hasn't been brought back. In my opinion, he's a much better "bad guy" than Akuma, no disrespect intended. He just is a more inspired and interesting design, in my opinion. Of course, they could both be in the game and could even have an interesting rivalry thing going in the story. I've all but lost interest in Street Fighter at this point due to all the other fighting games around, but I would happily pre-order the next Street Fighter if it including Mr. Garuda here (preferably alongside D. Dark and the other Street Fighter characters on this list).

    My favorite character to play as that originated from the Street Fighter EX series. He used a wire to catch his opponents and drag them in to combo them or electrocute them. He also used a variety of hidden knives and explosives, which made him a blast to play as.

    His back story was interesting, if a bit chilling. D. Dark was a soldier under Guile's command who witnessed the slaughter of his unit and narrowly managed to escape the battle with his life. The battle left its marks, physically, emotionally, and mentally. His body recovered, but his mind was broken. He blamed Guile for the death of his comrades, claiming that he had put more effort into hunting down Bison on his own personal quest for revenge than training and effectively commanding his soldiers. He has devoted his life to hunt down and kill Guile, mercilessly dispatching any who get in his way. <br>

    He appeared in all 5 releases in the EX series, but has not made an appearance since. It would totally make my day if D. Dark returned to Street Fighter, and I'd love to see how they reworked him to fit into a 2D game. In either the next Street Fighter 4 release or a future Street Fighter 5.

    I know, another style derivative of Ryu/Ken, but Kairi was a cool character. He was a man who had lost his memories (typical, but the next part's cool) and strove to fill the void (and perhaps recover his lost memory) by seeking power, and it cost him his humanity. As the EX series progressed, he took on a more and more corrupted appearance. I liked how his character actually developed, and in a cool way. It's very rare in a fighting game, especially in Street Fighter and I'd love to see him make a return.

  • Origin: Soul Calibur II

    Last Appeared In: Soul Calibur IV

    One of my only complaints about Soul Calibur V was the removal of Talim. I think the developers missed a big opportunity to expand her character and redesign her as an older, more mature character (as she would be 30-ish). Talim was always one of my favorites since her introduction in Soul Calibur II and I'd love to see her return.

    Another of my favorite Soul Calibur characters who didn't make the cut in Soul Calibur V, Zasalamel has been missed.

    An Arabian princess that kicks some serious buttocks. She was one of my favorites from the EX series and, like many of the others, I'd love to see her come back.

  • Origin: Tekken 2

    <br>

    Last Appeared In: Tekken 2 (besides his Tekken Tag appearance)

    I wish Roger Jr. wouldn't have replaced Roger, his dad was so much more awesome. It would be fantastic if the original Roger returned. He kicks so much arse.

    Much of the same as above, but Alex is returning for Tekken Tag 2! Which was exciting news for me. I'd like to see him return to main series, along with Roger Sr.

    A Japanese businessman who was doing poorly and decided to dress up as a superhero for a carnival for extra money and brownie points with his boss (as the carnival was sponsored by the company and held in honor of important clients). Only, while he is dressed up as this superhero, he decides that he'd rather be a superhero than a businessman and heads out on the the street to fight crime. That story is SO bizarre. But Awesome. I'd love to see Skullomania return, he's just so ridiculous in an awesome/hilarious way.

    Yet another of my favorites from the EX series that I'd like to see return. I loved her sliding trip throw and her supers. And a mugen recreation that I found proved that she works well in 2D.

    Quite the bruiser and one of the most formidable characters in the Street Fighter EX series. It would be cool to see him come back.

  • Origin: Street Fighter Alpha 3

    Last Appeared In: Street Fighter Alpha 3 (aside from Street Fighter X Tekken)

    <br>

    I know he returned in Street Fighter X Tekken, but I want to see him in a major Street Fighter release.

    Jun is returning in Tekken Tag 2, which is awesome, but I'd love to see her return as a playable character in the main series as well.
