So today, I decided to start up a new game of Cross Edge.  In my previous attempt at the game, I didn't get very far at all before quitting and moving on to something else, but in deciding to give it another shot, I first went to the PSN store and checked for DLC.  As it turns out, the game has a ridiculous number of DLC packs, many of them free of charge, that do things like add bonus skill points, weapons, items, extra dungeons, and so on.  For the paid DLC, most everything costs between one to two dollars.  Since I had a little money left in my PSN account wallet, I bought a cheap DLC pack that would unlock the entire contents of the art gallery.
 
After that, I started the game, got a ways in, and decided to look at the gallery.
 
And I'm awarded a silver trophy.  What?
 
As it turns out, one of the game's trophies is awarded for unlocking the entire gallery.  So I essentially paid about $2.00 for a silver trophy.  I really don't know how to feel about this because quite frankly, there's no real rewarding feeling attached to it.  I didn't accomplish anything in the game to earn it beyond opening the gallery menu.  And it's not like The Simpsons Game either, where the player is awarded for simply pressing start, because that's all part of that particular game's humor.  I earned another Cross Edge trophy not long after when I equipped some of the free DLC gear and then proceeded to exceed dealing 10,000 damage against early game mooks in a single battle.
 
This is just a little off, really.  It misses what the point of trophies/achievements are supposed to represent.  Sure, a lot of games do them poorly, but the games that get them right are able to make the experience all the more rewarding.  This DLC move just blows.
