Just say what you wanna say, 99% of the people aren't really going to care. Our Valedictorian decided to let the 2nd place thingy give the speech because she didn't wanna do all the bullshit positivity and "look to the future" nonsense.

I guess, if you actually are concerned about it being good, then you need to make it entertaining. Graduation is boring.

This should suffice.

I always kind of disliked the guy who was ours when we graduated. He always had this douchebag/pretentious vibe to him that always rubbed me the wrong way. Ours was whomever was the school president, and that whole mess of an election was nothing more then a popularity vote so it had no real meaning or bases on who would be best for the job.
