My question in response to this would be, what would you get out of Namco forcibly resuscitating a franchise that you couldn't get out of a similar game from another developer? If most of the development team from the previous entries has moved on, and the new developers would bring different sensibilities, then would you not simply be getting a new game in the spirit of the old and long untouched franchise? If that's the case then there's a good chance that what you want is already being provided elsewhere, without needing to drag out a franchise name. If Namco has seemingly neglected a franchise to the point where it is mostly forgotten as an ongoing concern, then it's probably better for it to stay dormant or dead.

Same as last time, low expectations. It's longer than usual, and I suspect that a large part of that will be dedicated to Deathloop and Horizon Forbidden West. The former because release is so close, the latter because it's now available for pre order.

I loved Horizon and am very much looking forward to the sequel; but I, personally, don't have a desire to see more preview material. So if that does get highlighted then I'll just mute it and wait until that part of the presentation passes.

Aside from that there may be an interesting announcement or two, but more along the lines of a pleasant surprise than anything amazing. None of which is a criticism, mind you, just the sense that I get from these presentations.

I haven't played The Pinball Arcade in years, and I should really give it another look.

Pinball FX was a decent option for a while, but their physics never felt great, and some of their business decisions have left me feeling like they don't fully understand what their target market should be. Almost like they're more interested in pulling in players who are new to pinball than pleasing fans of pinball. All of that is subjective, of course.

As for The Pinball Arcade, I wonder if I could even go back to it. It has been a long time, and I worry that I'll only see faults. I do love pinball, though... And I could really go for a few rounds of the old games.

The basic gameplay of the first one was fine, and I generally enjoy a good exploration platformer. Unfortunately I ended up disliking Axiom Verge because of the map. There were too many instances where I would reach a moment where I had NO idea where to go next, or where I might possibly be able to go at some point.

I've said this before, but the best of these sorts of games, to me, will have instances where I cannot traverse past a point, but I can be relatively sure that once I get a new ability that I will be able to pass this barrier or cross this gap. Breadcrumbs, if you will. With Axiom Verge I kept hitting points where I was just staring. I couldn't think of any points where I hadn't reached before, I couldn't think of anything that I hadn't done, and I was just wandering around that miserable world poking at corners of every room. It grew tiresome.

If they have improved that, then maybe I'll give it a shot; but that first one was so poorly designed (in my opinion, of course) that it would take an awful lot to move me toward it.

Pretty much what I thought that it would be: nothing groundbreaking, just some updates and a handful of goodies. Good enough.

I had forgotten about Deathloop, which makes the case as to why they would want to showcase it: I'm probably not the only person that forgot about it, and since it's a new franchise they can't really afford to have people forgetting about the title.

I have very little in the way of expectations IF a State of Play comes to pass. Probably a bunch of indie titles (which I don't mind, I only mean that it's something that I expect, and doubt that any of it will blow my mind), and maybe a reminder that Horizon Forbidden West is still happening. The event will probably be one of those things that I play in the background while I work.

I can't really get interested in rumors, however, since it's so rare for rumors of any kind to be accurate. Especially lately.

You, sir, just caused my brain to do some flips. Not because of the scores or anything of that sort, but suddenly remembering that we're nearing halfway into 2021, and that CANNOT be possible.

Just... Don't get your hopes up. Rumors are unreliable at the best of times. This, especially where the primary source of the rumors seems to be other outlets at this point and not any source that could be considered reliable. The situation has, in my opinion, quickly dissolved into 'my uncle who works at Nintendo' levels.

Also worth noting that it's about 1:00 am out in Japan, so the time for such an announcement if there was to be one has probably passed.

They even state that the background resembles the "Dubai Circuit of the Emirates track from Forza Motorsport 7", which is decidedly not Mexico.

They say it resembles that track, but it's definitely not that track. The packaging also says "Forza Horizon" when that track was only in Forza Motorsport.

Mexico makes a lot of sense, so OP might be on to something here. Wherever it's set, I'm looking forward to FH5 a lot. 4 was a blast.

Not saying that Mexico is out of the question, only that the article doesn't really make any sense from top to bottom. The headline doesn't match the body, which doesn't maintain consistency with what it is that it's trying to convey. Even the bit about the resemblance causes issues when your headline suggests one thing (Mexico) and then you go on to explain how it doesn't resemble that one thing at all.

Nothing has been announced, and Nintendo doesn't really pursue power or high specs ever; so my expectations are low to maintain a sense of realism. That's even assuming that they do announce something. Maybe they will; but at this point so many people are feeding off of the rumours posted on other sites rather than their own sources that I'm taking a "believe it when I see it" approach.
