Not really sure where the "cockiness" or "arrogance" argument is coming from with regards to this announcement. As mentioned elsewhere, Sony skipped E3 2019, too. They don't feel like they need it... prove them wrong, I guess, but this will be the third year (technically second, I suppose, since 2020 hardly counts) and their popularity doesn't seem to have fallen into a gorge by any means.

That page seems a little confused on what it is that it wants to say.

The headline reads as though the Horizon Hot Wheels is teasing FH5 and Mexico Setting, but nothing in the text suggests that the packaging teases anything of the sort. They even state that the background resembles the "Dubai Circuit of the Emirates track from Forza Motorsport 7", which is decidedly not Mexico. They then leave the Hot Wheels discussion to go on to reiterate that the FH5 launch is rumored, that the Mexico setting is rumored, and nothing seems connected based upon what I read there. *shrug*

They may as well have called that piece of writing "Three Things About Forza" since it just reiterates three things that aren't directly connected to one another, and are based on links from different points in time (with one being two years old). By all means let me know if, in my tired state, I missed something; but I'm not seeing the connections here.

I initially sought out a replacement, and then quickly stopped when I realized that I didn't really need another video game podcast in my life. If anything I swapped the Beastcast for This Paranormal Life, though that one typically clocks in at less than an hour.

Otherwise my replacements are music and Major League Baseball. I've been weirdly into baseball this year after over a decade of not giving a damn. *shrug*

I find myself price sensitive knowing that sales are so regular, and that Gold/Definitive/GOTY versions of games are so commonplace. Paying full price made sense to me at one time when sales were uncommon, and often came so much later that the likelihood that I would even buy that game was low. NES/SNES era is key, here; and those games had a tendency to be $70-$90 at release, especially for something popular. That's less the case now.

I am interested in Immortals Fenyx Rising. I have not yet purchased Immortals Fenyx Rising. I was waiting first on a sale, and second to buy at a time where it would not languish in a backlog. Immortals Fenyx Rising is very often on sale. While the price tag may be $60 for the basic version, and $100 for the game + season pass bundle (Gold edition, I think it's called), it's on sale so often that I just think of that game as a $30/$50 package, not $60/$100. When the time comes and I am ready to make a purchase I will know that either the game is on sale, or I just need to wait a week or two to see it on sale again.

The same holds true for other games, more notably single player games. I don't play much in the way of multiplayer, which would obviously have different criteria (ie: getting in while there's still a sizeable population), so I cannot comment on that; but for my buying dollar it makes little sense to pay full price anymore.

@nillock: This is something that has bothered me about his writing before, and I find myself agreeing with several of your points. The other side of the story feels neglected at times. This isn't to say that there aren't ever reasons for this one sided style (for example, if he has reached out for comment and received no response). Unfortunately it often feels to me as though little attempt was made to even seek out comment or provide context for the other side's thinking.

I suppose that the point that I'm poorly making is that it at times seems like he is writing not to inform, but to hammer down an unshakable opinion that he has about a particular subject.

Pretty normal, really. I wouldn't pop on here and say "Hey, guys, I work for [insert company name here] and we just signed on this new customer!" Kinda frowned upon by any employer.

I'll just repeat what I said in the last thread: Konami's track record is so poor, especially over the last couple of decades, that I'm not even sure what I would want out of one of their franchises that other development companies, indie or otherwise, haven't done as well as or better than they. Wanting them to return to a former franchise would probably just be in name only, and that isn't enough for me by a long shot. I feel like it's time for those franchises to just go away permanently.

For example, I enjoyed Gradius and Life Force/Salamander back in the day, but if they suddenly decided to make a new one then I still wouldn't be jumping for joy. A game by that name may get my attention for a moment, but considering Konami's output in recent years I still wouldn't be confident that the quality would be something to look forward to. Different people would be working on the title, different sensibilities and mindsets; and at this point if I want a shoot em up, then I could probably just find another one from another company if I were so inclined.

My opinion is similar to Bigsocrates above. This showed basically nothing, and the incredibly odd inclusion of poker being played does nothing to sell the game to me. Does poker even factor into the game? And, to be honest, I'm asking that question rhetorically: nothing in that trailer made me want to go and find out. Their marketing team decided that the most vibrant and interesting looking portion of their trailer should be the part that had nothing to do with driving, and that somehow was approved and developed upon.
