Dynamite with a proper live crowd during the first hour made the show feel like a PPV at some points.
Omega as champion has been feeling a little cold to me lately. The image of him standing in front of the crowd with the belt getting to cut a promo and being able to react to them really changed that.
I totally agree about not taping Dark before the show. Orange and Kingston didn't get nearly the reaction I was expecting. The same thing happened on the Friday Dynamite before Double or Nothing. The whole second hour the crowd is just dead.
I think this is more about how the internet is so lightning quick to critique something
Took them a while sure, but look, they had other things to do first
This is THE consistently recurring pattern of AEW's relationship with the fans online. And I think it has a lot to do with the fact that most fans are looking at everything through the lens of WWE.
AEW puts something out there >> fans complain/say it's going to fail/say it doesn't make sense >> AEW follows up/tweaks it/improves it >> some fans realize the plan/realize their error, others forgot/don't care and are already on to bitching about something else AEW is doing >> repeat
It's funny because one of the things you hear from WWE fans is, "let it play out/give Vince the benefit of the doubt" or "just sit back and enjoy it." And if you follow WWE's booking, then you're a moron if you think anything they're doing is worth a shit or is planned at all.
So now you've got AEW fans that are applying the lesson they learned from watching WWE and are skittish about trusting AEW's booking and long-term planning the moment something seems off.
@retris: I can't remember if this was just a theory or if he was told this but Bryan on Observer Live a couple months ago said that because the wrestlers are coming up with their own segments and everyone wants their segment to be the best it can be, that's what's leading to every match having a million things going on in them. Everyone's basically trying to one-up everyone else.
Main event was really good. Omega and Jungle Boy work well together, everything was really smooth. No surprise, they're both great.
I haven't agreed with people saying that there's too much going on on Dynamite recently with all the post-match angles and whatnot. But I definitely rolled my eyes when Hardy Family ran in after the main event.
