2017 Games

Surprise! Here's a list of games I've played in 2017.

List items

  • I'm actually playing this game on the PS4—in fact, I waited until it came out on consoles to play (I don't have a powerful enough computer to play on).

I easily put 60 hours into this game in about two weeks. It's one of those rare games that bends the space-time continuum. Once I start playing, time loses all meaning. This game is fun, it's adorable, and it's addictive. Everything from the music to the colors to the characters make this game worthwhile.

There are a few drawbacks to playing on a console because it's basically a port. It doesn't seem as though the creator did too much to tailor the game for consoles (yes, I know he's only one man!). For example, fonts are really difficult to read and there's no way to make them any larger. Some of the menu options are small too, which makes it difficult to select.

Overall, I love this game. Actually, I love this game so much I've been avoiding it lately because I have mountains of work to get through and I know that if I even pick up the controller, none of that work will get done in time. None of it!

  • I played Yoshi's Woolly World on the Wii U after it came out and I loved it. It's so freakin' cute. Really, really cute. If Nintendo made little knitted figures, I'd probably buy them all. (Yes, I have the Amiibo. Amiibos? Whatever.)

Like Stardew Valley, this game is pure joy and happiness and everything that's right with the world. The 3DS version is fun and stays true to the original Yoshi's Woolly World, with a few updates.

The Poochys (Poochies?!) and Poocy help you along the way. You can opt to have poochies follow you around each level as replacements for the yarn balls that typically follow Yoshi. And you can have the big Poochy join you, too. There are added features such as the Poochy race and the movies.

If you enjoyed Yoshi's Woolly World, you'll enjoy this iteration as well, especially if you were hoping to play Woolly World on your 3DS.

  • A fun, Warioware-like launch game. It's made up of mini games that you can play with one friend (player v. player) or a bunch of friends (team v. team).

There's a good amount of variety from one game to the next, both in type of game and quality. The mini games range from a sandwich eating contest to lockpicking to gun draws and cow milking.

1-2-Switch is fun to play with friends and a good introduction to the new Nintendo Switch.
