Wow.  First off, I'd ask, "With a history as rich and diverse as yours, when did you stop caring about what made video games great?"

Next.  I don't think you guys understand economics either.  He wants to bring in money, of course, but he wants it now.  He needs instant gratification.   So instead of making one great guitar hero game a year, or 18 months, he makes other people work on 9 different guitar hero games and wonders why that all their sales equaled the one from last year.  He then fires them after overworking their asses on a game that had no creativity.  He has effectively destroyed Infinity Ward.  No amount of money that Activision has made has come from him.  They had 4 things: Blizzard, MW, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk.  Guess which is the only thing standing.  Why?  Because he doesn't have any control over Blizzard.  He can't fuck with them and they make money.  If he could he would make other studios work on other projects on their IP's.  There is no need to imagine a divide between profit and artistic freedom.  Plenty of franchises make money and they only come out every 2-4 years.  Plenty of games make money by actually improving the formula, rather than repeating the same formula.  If he really wanted to make money, he'd let people have more time and freedom in making their games, he'd take chances on innovative ideas, and he's stop trying to oversaturate the market.  If the gaming industry turns into the movie industry, we lose.  I refuse to let video games turn into a commodity.  They have more potential than any other medium to immerse us.  Yet while there is a law being fought to effectively treat games as porn, we al just sit back and say, "meh, he's doing this for other people that don't play games so that they can all benefit from us and have no interest in the craft itself, and thats ok by me."  If that's true, then we deserve the same 'Call of Duty' re-hash bullshit every year.  We deserve to pay Activision just to access it online.  We deserve to make the shareholders money and not the people that actually make the games.  Your apathy disgusts me.

@Sackmanjones: Seriously?  That's awesome.  I have a lot of friends going there right now.  Where'd you live before that if you don't mind me asking?

What exactly does communications do?  Class courses, potential, etc...  Trying to decide on a double major.

Actually, I think I'd really like to hear why you people are majoring in what you chose as well.

I chose psych because I figure it is general enough to give me a solid foundation for almost anything I would want to do.  Plus it actually was something I would like to learn. Something about reducing people and motives to animalistic urges turns me on.

I've seen a few forum posts in the past about people having a tough time in college and I figured it might be beneficial for some people to find out they may live fairly close together.  If a couple users on GB find out they go to the same school, and they already have a shared interest in vidja games, then, well, I'm sure you get the point.  And just to make this topic a tad more interesting, people should add their majors and people not currently going to college should add the school they went to.

I go to the University of Arizona.

I am majoring in psychology.

See, I have very little money (poor college kid cliche inserted).  I bought the new arcade after my last xbox red ringed for the second time and it was out of the beautiful 3 year warranty.  I was hoping that the new arcade would last me through college and so i spent what little money I have on the expensive version of reach.  I'd love to get a slim.  I'm thinking of putting a note in my box saying how I wouldn't mind it if they replaced it with a slim.

During the call with tech, the guy asked if my xbox was making any weird noises, like grinding.  I responded with, "not unless quietness is a weird noise for an xbox to make."  I also got him to agree that this was a shitty situation, which was really empowering.  :P

My 4 month old Xbox just kicked the bucket, and I'm pretty bummed.  Luckily it is under warranty, but now I have to stare at the statue of Noble team for two extra weeks at least.  Best part is this is the Xbox I got right before the E3 announcement.  I'm soon to be on my 4th Xbox.  They also couldn't figure out what was wrong with my Xbox.  So, yay!  Got that going for me.  Anyone else have poorly manufactured Xbox horror stories?
