I remember being handed the book at college by some Christian recruiters, which raised my eyebrow and interest. After mentioning it to my friend later, he gifted me the RTS PC games they made based on the book for Christmas. They made like four or five of them somehow...
Don't do it, Mr. Walker. Mechwarrior Online is a sand pit of nostalgia and painted diarrhea. You won't feel the need to spend real money until you either try to get a full set of one Mech series like any of the clan mechs or buying module upgrades for your mech. It gets difficult produce money without getting a hero mech, buying days of premium, or playing a great number of games. I basically bought the Direwolf and Timberwolf series, which are basically the best mechs in the game. At that point I was pretty much done there and got tired of missile boat mechs and the tug of war balance issue between being weak to game breaking. And lets not forget Alpine Peak map and the developers refusal to get rid of that hideous map...
Oh dear god... Jeff, don't get lured into the nostalgia honey trap known as Mechwarrior Online. The game has been and continue to be unbalanced. It has become what is the new unbalanced mech with weapon setup that is dominating the game for the month. Maps are constantly outdated in that Piranha never bothered to balance when mechanics are tweaked.
Clan mechs and weapon were just straight out overpowered to the point you saw only them. Once I gotten Direwolf and Timberwolf, I was pretty much done with the game.
Piranha is so desperate or greedy they started selling golden skinned mechs and later the Urban mech...
Piranha promised so much with Mechwarrior, but fell flat on almost everything.
Maybe I'm just jaded with the crap Piranha gave the community... It's been a few months... Maybe it's better now... I'll just update the client for now... Yeah... yeah...
