Hestilllives19: Best of 2013

List items

  • PS3: Didn't think anything would beat Ni No Kuni this year, then Naughty Dog happened. Holy Crap! This game is unbelievably awesome. The best game I have played this entire generation.

  • PS3: Fantastic combination of what makes both Zelda and Pokemon games appealing. Absolutely loved this game.

  • PS3: Absolutely outstanding. GTA Online got super repetitive though, still kinda fun but after they gave out the $500,000, not really a good reason to play anymore since I have fancy cars and the big apartment.

  • PC: This game is awesome, everything I could have hoped for it to be.

  • PS4: Why does Ubisoft build such great stories only to fall flat on their face towards the end? Very promising story filled with intrigue that never truly lives up to its potential. Gameplay was very fun though.

  • XBOX One: It takes a minute to get into, and controls feel strange at first, but once your in, there is so much zombie slaying fun to be had.

  • PC: Played about halfway. This game is weird, but I think I really like that about it. SR games just have an odd sense of charm to them. Collecting orbs is so addicting. I find that everytime I get a chance to upgrade powers I can upgrade all of them because I found 200 orbs already.

  • PC: Was very skeptical, not because of how good X-Com is, but at a $30 price point. What they added to this game really changed how the game is played and added a lot of mission variety. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience for the $21 I paid, still not sure about a $30 price point for DLC but this add on was very good. Note, I really wish I had waited a few months and got it for $10 at the steam sale, for $10 I would have felt it was well worth my money.

  • 3DS: Pretty fun game, not a great reason to play after finding all of the legendaries though. Wasn't even the best Pokemon type game this year, that goes to Ni No Kuni. Still, best reason to pick up my 3DS since Zelda OOT.

  • PC: It's Dead Island, all of the same great features, and all of the same problems.

  • Honorable Mention (PC): Played this in 2014 quite a bit in the lull. It seems like a terrible game but once you get into it, this game becomes a lot of fun actually. I hope this sequel improves a lot, because there definitely is room for that, but the barebones of this game could be something truly special.
