Like others, I wanted to write in to compliment Jan in hosting these. It's obviously hard work and it takes skill, but you make it come across very naturally! Pretty awesome.
I want you to know, that I jammed along with you on three tracks. I played the keys on My Hero, grabbed the bass on In The End, and finished the stream with you playing lead guitar on Walk of Life. Playing along to recordings feels kind of like connecting to the artist and this time it was connecting with you, master of drums.
Excited to see your next step. You'll be missed here.
This was so emotional. I'm so happy everybody got to come back for this sendoff.
I know this is just what Zoom does, but the specific position of Vinny in the middle surrounded by his "family" as everybody opened up about their memories and feelings... It's just perfect. Watching this crew's dad smiling as he watched everybody else talk was a beautiful treat.
I hope we get to see a reunion someday, with everybody vaccinated and healthy.
Hearing Jeff say "this f*ing sucks" was cathartic. It always was good to see the duders have open reactions to whatever happened. This is probably the biggest turning point the site ever had to face and it will never be same... But things ending has to be ok and if ending things after churning out over a decade of amazing, beloved content isn't a victory, I don't know what is.
Jeff G. and the others will make something interesting happen, I'm sure.
It's always sad to see staff members leave. Given how long he's been around, it would have been terrible to lose Alex. Or to lose Brad! Or Vinny, oh man! But seeing them all go at once... Goddamn.
Listen, I'm a filmmaker and I spend a stupid amount of time watching stuff. I don't think any other trio of people producing media together have given me so much good-times in the past 10 years, maybe in my life. The hours are literally countless.
So thank you so much Vinny, Brad and Alex. I love you for your work and will miss you a lot. I hope you start amazing new chapters in your lives.
I'm sure this will be a tough time for Jeff as well and I wish him all the strength to steer this ship in exciting directions. But hey, he's been doing for so long already.
I had also never heard of Merritt K, but Abby inviting her was - at worst - an honest mistake. This is the first all-female podcast to ever happen on GB and I feel like it's even more special for being in one of the two main feeds.
Anyway, just wanted to show my appreciation for the idea and initiative.
I wonder if designers and producers of open world games dread the time Vinny Caravella will inevitably play their games and do hilarious live QA on them. Seriously, Vinny and open world games, man.
