If your kid's biggest health issue is that he eats Frosted Flakes for breakfast, find him a sport because he could probably make the Olympics himself.

Christ, you'd think it was Count Chocula or something.

Halo CE was Goldeneye with aliens, lasers*, more polygons, and a bigger draw distance. For people who had never had the party game shooter experience, it was definitely a world-opener. I'll admit that I was partial to the fluff of Halo CE (the story and especially the music). I just played through it recently and am surprised at how well that stuff has held up.

Halo 2 fulfilled my expectations of expanding the series' potential, Halo 3 did nothing like that at all but still was a solid title.

Bold, underline, italics. I'm not sure why people think this is groundbreaking. Half of the PC shooters released in the last decade plus have level editors.

*Don't say it, I remember the damn Goldeneye laser.

I didn't at first, but apparently the editors do because they really grill those 3 star games.

EDIT: I think 3 star reviews should be given to...fairly good games. I guess it's just hard to shake the habit of converting the scores into the GS 10.0 where 6 is bad, because it seems like that's what they have been doing.

This thread is back?

Listen, if I had a Wii and liked it, I wouldn't  feel the need to defend it. It's not like PS3/360 where two companies are fighting tooth or nail for exclusives to the same games and many gamers can only afford one. You know what you have, and you know if the graphical dogging and the lack of "hardcore" genre titles are worth the Nintendo games, motion control, Virtual Console and low price. Who are you trying to convince?

I was planning on getting a Wii before it launched, but the small and expensive nature of the VC library turned me off. If I did buy one, I would be lol'ing myself silly at the internet console wars with one hand while I played my favorite NES titles to death with the other. The only person you need to convince of the Wii's merits is yourself. It's not like you're sitting alone in the universe as the only person who owns one or Nintendo's considering abandoning the platform.

Probably because people aren't inclined to come on line and gush about their awesome experience after having to ship their broken XBox across the country, no matter how smoothly it goes.

Yeah, if you're actually going to buy a fresh one then you obviously don't have to care about what a retailer or MS thinks about you keeping your hard drive. Just pop it off the old 360 and put it on the new one.

1UP is good for news articles, since Gamespot is unusable now and Giantbomb's front page isn't updated frequently or on time, but I've never put any faith in their reviews. They never have any consistency. You get the feeling that the gas the reviewer got from shoveling too many burritos in his mouth beforehand affects his view of the game. I've checked them a few times to see if a badly reviewed game was actually as bad as another source said it was, but that's all they're good for.

It's probably the best place to keep up with daily news that isn't GS or IGN, edges out Kotaku and Joystiq IMO.

do you really think its that big of a loss for him though?"
Considering that the only material benefit to him posting on NeoGAF was stirring up hype for his game, which is now released, it's probably no loss at all. In fact, it's a plus for him; the melodramatic climax to his little Derek Smart campaign. If I were in his shoes, I would have jumped on a flamewar grenade myself.

This was actually a dumb move by the NeoGAF mod, from the site's perspective. I mean, really, what is that site except a place for game fans of...uh...a "certain temperament"...to go nuts? Flaming Denis Dyack had to be a big draw, especially since it seemed like he was nearly a NeoGAF "exclusive."

People might forgive her, but they're not going to stop talking about her.

Her performance was legendary. Not Giant Enemy Crab legendary, but still in the pantheon.
