I won’t say this is not fucked because it is. What surprises me is that I feel this is not the first time I see this? Hell I remember seeing ads for America’s Army with a « Do it for real » tag on gamespot in the 360 era, but I might be mistaken. Also I know this more than just a banner ads but ad revenue not being what it used to be, it’s just expected imo for them to turn to sponsored content like this. At the end of the day any publicity for the army is bad, I’m just surprised that particular one is the one that made so many angry but then again I might be misremembering stuff.
I don’t think any editor had much to say on the matter, I hope those to blame do get the blame. I do think it’s endemic of a bigger issue and I’d understand if anyone at GB or Gamespot refrain from talking about it out of fear of losing their jobs though.
I would say that it's mostly due to the fact that in 2020 the National Guard are in our streets and caving our heads in for protesting.
It is incredibly disgusting and has done irreparable harm to everything the fine folks at CBSi editorial have worked to build up over the last few years.
It feels like since last wednesday's emergency GB West stream (to cover for the canceled East playdate) something has drastically changed in the audio chain. To me it sounds like all the mics are clipping a bit, but some voices sound like they're being recorded from a mic that's in the room, but not near the person speaking.
The most recent example of this is the wolcen quicklook. In the beginning of the video (About a minute in) Ben sounds like he's talking and there's a mic in the room, but not attached to him. Rorie sounds like he would if I had a head cold.
I looked at some videos before then and found the audio sounded far more "normal". I asked about this in chat on Friday's UPF and other's agreed with me. Anyone else hearing this?
I bought it this morning and after about 45 minutes refunded it:
-The movement in the game feels incredibly off and slow.
-The game taunts you that it wants you to use your brain to solve problems, but so far those problems consisted of very basic HL2 style physics puzzles.
-The game in really dark, so to compensate they give you a flashlight item. Want to use anything else? You put the flashlight away. Doom 3 gameplay in 2018.
-The inventory is straight out of Minecraft circa 2009.
-The game doesn't explain itself well, purposefully being cryptic. Worse yet is tooltips often zoom by before you can even begin reading them.
I was sad to find out this game wasn't gonna be for me.
