So... $5/mo. which basically just gets you an ad-free podcast. The rest is Twitch streams. And unless I'm mistaken, you'll have to throw Twitch another $5/mo for a channel sub if you don't want to watch those ads.

I'm happy to see anyone breaking out and doing what they want to do, but from a consumer perspective I'm not sure this whole move to Patreon and third party services is very good value.

@frytup: Give them some time. If you listen to the podcast, they're pretty clear they're just starting out and have a lot of work to do.

This is a startup after all. A fairly quickly launched startup at that. I could be wrong, but I don't get the sense these guys are just sitting on the piles of cash needed to get a company off the ground. Patreon and Twitch are available known platforms that give them access to their audience and the funds they needed to start building what they really want. Based on their backgrounds, experience, and interests I don't think any of them see Nextlander ultimately remaining limited to Twitch and Patreon.

Regardless, I'm really excited for them. I can't wait to see what these three very resourceful guys can do. Mostly, I'm excited to support three people with unique voices that I love working to build their own vision. Best of luck to Vinny, Brad, Alex, and Nextlander. I'm excited for the journey.

I'm going to miss the guys that are leaving. They've been companions in my ears and on my screen for over a decade. I won't speculate as to why these three are leaving, it's not constructive. I'll just wish them and those staying all the best of luck and happiness.

Change is inevitable. GB was created when the media landscape was in a major state of flux, and it really hasn't calmed down since. Twitch and its ilk have moved into a lot of the spaces GB created and excelled at. It's hardly surprising they'll have to adjust the brand and site in response to those forces. There's a ton of talent in Jeff and the other's staying on. I know they'll do their best to create a site and content that is relevant and entertaining.

Pour one out of what's lost and those that are moving on. Mourning a loss is healthy. An important part of mourning is to remember the good times. Take this chance to remember all the joy and laughs the GB has provided. The future is unknown, but there's every reason to believe there's plenty of good to come.

I want to thank Brad, Vinny, and Alex for the years. Y'all have kept me company working at home during the pandemic, driving to and from my parents' house during the holidays, lulled me to sleep, and just generally been a comforting and entertaining background to my life. I will dearly miss your unique and engaging voices (even when thought one of you should just STFU during a game of the year fight).

You should each be proud of the site and community that you've help build and engender over the years.

I wish you all the best of luck on your next adventures. I look forward to seeing where you land.

Thanks again for the memories. You will be missed.

Obviously we haven't heard the show yet, but I still want to thank the guys for undertaking what has to a unfathomably hard task. The Bombcast (f.k.a. Arrow Pointing Down) was the first Giantbomb product created by Ryan and Jeff before there was even a website. Five years later, the Bombcast still remains the core of the Giantbomb community. It's where these lovable assholes come together to share their lives and experiences, real and gaming, with each other and the community they created. It's where we as a community came to know and love each of them, and in listening found some commonality with our own lives, real and gaming. That's the power of podcasting, a power Ryan expertly wielded. Because, the Bombcast was without a doubt, Ryan's mother-fucking show. So thank you guys for coming together to share your grief, stories, tears, frats...whatever you find it in yourselves to share, with the rest of the Giantbomb community. Ryan loss has left a big fucking hole in our ears and hearts that can never be filled. So know that by recording a podcast and sharing your lives experiences, you lovable assholes bring together a legion of fans who loved Ryan and support you. By recording this podcast you're giving us, your fans and community, the greatest gift you could today. Because it's Bombcast day, our day to come together, it's Tuesday.

I am stunned. Guys I'm so sorry for your loss. I only knew Ryan virtually (so not at all, really) and I still feel like giant hole has been left in my world. I can't imagine the size of that hole for those of you who knew him well. He will be missed by us all. My thoughts and prayers go out to all Ryan's friends and family.

I'll just leave him with the highest compliment I can think of. Thanks for all the laughs Ryan.

Ryan will truly be missed by us all, and I'll pay him the biggest compliment i can think of. Ryan was a giant silly ass of a man, in the best sense of the words. He brought so much joy to countless thousands of lives. The world is a significantly less joyful place without him. Thanks for the laughs duder.
