@mems1224: Thats a really good point and probably a reason why I enjoyed playing MGS so much.

I gotta say...I cannot disagree with Dan more about Witcher 3. I feel like his opinion on MGSv would be the same no matter the game that we got. I cannot find mgsV's world more boring, lifeless, and full of so much content 'not to do'.

When Dan said the Witcher 3 had boring quests, I just started rubbing my hands together in anticipating. Like it's not possible that he would actually cite Phantom Pain as a better example is it? Surely he won't..

I have beaten both and think both have their fair share of boring side activities, but Dan choosing MGS V specifically as a foil for monotonous quest design is probably the most ill advised example you could give. I enjoyed both for different reasons but MGS V side ops are the quintessential, prime example, of "go here do this" with little in the ways of context or caring. The main difference for me being that I thought the gameplay in Metal Gear was really enjoyable to the point where I didn't mind the repetition because I enjoyed the pure act of playing the game so much, while I never thought the Witcher 3 combat came into it's own - it was fine, just not something that I enjoyed all that much.

I hope they keep playing because at this point I've seen too much to actually play it myself and I want to see how it ends. Also these kind of slow paced adventure games seem perfectly suited for them to tackle. You have enough time for some banter between the crew, and 90% of the gameplay matters and isn't just filler between story beats.

How many hours would Dan have left if he mainlined the story from the Ugly Baby quest? I'm asking because that's the exact point I'm at and am about to pick up the game again after finishing MGS V.

Man, if its the point Im thinking of then he still has a ways to go. Thats still the start of Act 2 out of 3

I'd say it's at least like 6 hours from the ugly baby quest. Who knows maybe 10? Thats if you're mainlining everything but then I don't know if you wouldn't hit a wall from the lack of better equipment.

People really hated Dead Space 3 but I think the first half of that game is really good and the second half is average but not really the travesty it was made out to be.

Cats aren't mean; you're mean to cats.

Cats are awesome, way more awesome than dogs that are pretty overrated in my opinion!

@hatking: Affording a degree is a problem in a lot of countries outside of the US. I sympathize as I think the education system already wastes too much time trying to teach children things they don't need. Hammering away mathematics for several years to students that will become great writers or forcing proper literature on future mathematicians. It all sucks pretty much, and the requirement of needing a piece of paper to prove your worth in the adult world is indeed pretty shitty.
