Games I completed in 2016

This list worked out well last year as I completed 30 games! I'm going to try and top that this year. I want to beat more games than I buy. It just seems like a good idea, here we go!

I might go back and add short 'reviews' if I have time!

List items

  • This game was pretty damned good. I ended up really liking the story and characters more than the gameplay, but that's saying a lot because shooting fools in this game is very satisfying. It got me thinking: Techland really made this game?! Nice job!

  • I beat all of the courses in this game. Thank god, because this game was boring as hell. I hated it. Never again. I'm glad this is out of my life.

  • I completed all of the stages in this game. I can't say I played this game though, but I watched it play itself while I occasionally hit 'A'. It was fine, but not anything special really. Oh well. I beat it.

  • I beat this game! It wasn't that bad. The framerate took some serious dives, but this is a fun tower defense game. I appreciate that there is a co-op option too. Fun game!

  • This game was... okay. The voice work was annoying and British as hell, but the puzzles were okay. The ending was lame and pretentious.

  • So, I finally got around to beating this game. I don't know what that ending was supposed to be, but it was fun I guess. Buckle your pants!?

  • I loved the story mode in this game! It's so epic and cool-looking. I am gonna spend even more time just messing around in adventure and free battle modes.

  • Finally got around to beating this one, and I loved it. It had some issues with its plot and characters, but also nailed those parts in other ways. This is a great action-adventure game.

  • This should have and could have been one of my favorite shooters of the year. The campaign is laughable in how it portrays the first World War. The multiplayer is an unbalanced mess where medics and snipers rule. The maps are some of the worst maps in the franchise and that I've seen in a video game. As of now, and I hope this changes, I hate this game.

  • Titanfall 2 is a cool game. The campaign may only have been topped by DOOM when it comes to first-person shooter campaigns. The multiplayer is fluid and fast, and there are no microtransactions or season passes at the time of release. I only wish there was more than one mode I wanted to play (attrition). I also find that the titan combat gets tiring after a while, but I had a lot of fun with Titanfall 2 in general. Also, I wish I could use something that's not an assault rifle, and a Titan that's not Tone.

  • Gears 4 has a campaign with some great moments. It also has some really boring robots to fight, and starts to drag because of them. The horde mode is fun, but never reaches the same high points as Gears 3 horde mode. The multiplayer, I'm sure, is fine, but I am not very good at it, nor is it welcoming. On top of it all, the entire game is hampered by a greedy, desperate, and ultimately disgusting microtransaction system and useless season pass.

  • DOOM is great. I liked a lot of DOOM, and not just the campaign. I will say that the campaign is the best part, but the multiplayer is totally enjoyable if you give it a chance.

  • I don't know why this game was not praised more than it was. It tells a really interesting story, and the combat mechanics don't overstay their welcome. I like how time travel is handled, and it was just fun. This is one of my favorite games of the year.

  • Mega Man is no Mega Man 2. With that said, this was still a fun game. This series has been rendered way more playable with save states. I can't imagine beating them without them.

  • I really did not like this game. I thought the story was EXTREMELY predictable. From the first hour I knew what was going to happen, and that's a real let down.

  • I played so much Diablo III this year. I beat it over and over and over. I played it so much that I don't know if I ever want to play Diablo III again. Time will tell...

  • This was a neat game. It had issues with objectives not being very clear at some points, but it conveys mood and atmosphere very well. The weapons are fun to fire (redux version), and the plot is followable.

  • I beat this. I 100% beat this. I never want to play this again.

  • I finally got around to beating all of the DLC for this game. The DLC is not great. They are around 2 hours long as long as you do not go around collecting everything. I recommend you don't go around collecting everything. Actually, just don't play the dlc.

  • This was actually very fun to play through. I can't speak to how great the characters or plot was, but the gameplay was very fun. I'm glad I played it.

  • I forgot to add this one. I beat this game this year as I just got my 3DS. I like the pacing in this one, and how it seems like you're just running around with a group of friends. That group of friends keeps the game lively and interesting.

  • This game took a bit to grow on me. I ended up liking the mechanics more than the structure. There were far too many legendary pokemon at the end of the game, which made them repetitive to capture. The structure also wasn't as tight as Pokemon X, but the DexNav is one of the greatest introductions to the series.

  • Okay, so I haven't beaten every new level, but I am on my way. I will beat this game. This game is so good.

  • Inside is narrative that only talks in atmosphere. Certain events unfold, but you have to take in all of the sounds, sights, and everything that may be absent to get the whole story. Even then, everything is up to interpretation. A true work of art.

  • Shank 2 is a brutal, combative, fun revenge tale. It's very simple and easy to pick up and learn in less than 5 minutes. There is depth to it, but if you just want to use what works, it won't stop you. I had fun with this one.

  • It's hard to say that I really beat this game, because it's such a weird one. I thought I would like it more than I did. It did get me to use my inner detective skills, but I ended up feeling a bit disappointed by the structure.

  • Technically, I beat the ultimate edition, but it won't show on my list. Here is what I wrote previously: This is gears of war ultimate edition. It was a lot more difficult than the sequels. I enjoyed it, but it was pretty much all shooting and taking cover. I guess that's what it should be. Fun stuff.

  • I decided to beat all Gears games before Gears 4. This game was very disjointed. It tried to paint a horrific picture, and an emotional, personal story with Dom and his Wife. Then, after Dom finds his Wife, the game forgoes any threatening, interesting moments for regular shooting until the end. Very odd.

  • This game is probably the best game in the series. Characters emerge and by the end of the game, I almost started caring for them. That is not a slight, but more so an improvement. The enemies were varied and very cool. I loved the co-op modes (campaign, horde, beast). The unlocks are really well done too. This is a solid shooter!

  • This game was a real chore to get through. I thought the plot was set up interestingly enough, but the pacing was horrible. The plot comes to a stop constantly, just so the characters can all have their shooting moments, and the ending is just horrible. I wish this game was a little tighter in all aspects. The multiplayer was fun with bots though.

  • This was a solid shooter that kept its pace all the way through. I thought the ending was a little weird, but I enjoyed most of the set pieces as well as the ship combat. I enjoyed this game very much.

  • I loved this game. It portrays batman and Bruce Wayne how they should be portrayed.

  • What a boring waste of time.

  • I did not enjoy this game.

  • What a great game!

  • This was a surprising little game. I really enjoyed it.
