@bane: What would be wild is if civs from previous cycles had the same thought....would be a cool way to get the ME1 sense of exploration back anyways and new tech trees to invest all your mining in.

I think there are a lot of levels to this in comparison to something like Disney's Star Wars purchase (or heck Marvel in hindsight). One, Disney got sweet deals in those purchases. That was said back then as both parties were looking for what Disney could provide their properties and it looked to be a fruitful merger of IP's and distribution/production/marketing machines.

While Star Wars MIGHT make let's say 1.1 billion (to throw out a relevant Beastcast back of napkin number) in a year on average from movies (if Star Wars gets up to putting out 1 a year like the plan says and expecting the side movies to do a bit less as there is no track record for those kinds of movies blowing up the BO), the REAL money, the money Lucas was a visionary in negotiating the rights for way back with Star Wars, is the merch and licensing. That has gotta blow out of the water even blockbusting mega movies like good Star Wars movies, even in down years of toy sales, and especially if the current push is what Disney has in store for the Star Wars brand going forward.

But I think the GB East crew eventually got to the real point of the acquisition being mobile and userbase info and access.

I am now wondering if Andromeda is the story of a final contingency to the Reaper threat. In case all else failed (and the track record of success for the Reapers is pretty good), civilization of some sort would continue in another galaxy separate from the 50,000 year cycle. Sounds like Shep knew about it and was there to give a final goodbye anyways.

In regards to your hypothetical 1 vs 100 tank armor battle I think both extremes are failures. Austin, you hit on the most obvious limitation about 1 tank (in addition it could be stuck in terrain, being transported, down for maintenance, repair, refueling, reloading, etc). The Super Tank is what the Germans tried to go with. The other extreme is what ended up happening to Japanese Zeroes (which exacerbated the manpower disparity of America having a much larger pool of pilots to eventually draw from), too easy to one hit kill.

Of course all that's easy to say when the Allies had the cheat code of logistics and ended up having 1000 armor points to divvy up.

I vaguely recall that the first turtle in Mario 2 (Lost Levels) was the secret to the same infinite life trick as 3-1 in the OG game if you bounced the mushroom and used that to break the right blocks to leave the Koopa on a single block. It was a serious hint you were going to need those lives and what kind of game this was going to be. I don't think I've ever beaten Lost Levels without warping.

EDIT - Oh man this was a UPF that I would like to have been in the chat. The timer in Fallout 1 needing to be gamed to get the best ending (that most people never saw), and the Sawsbuck ID.

The train hideout is a "this is games" moment for sure, but London in this time had something like 100,000 passengers riding on trains each day, let alone the massive amount of freight. I think one random train can probably get by as not too noticeable.

As Jeff Green said in regards to how hard you worked on a game versus reviewing games: "Tough shit."
