Oh WOW. I never imagined they'd go back to this, and I really do miss the FMV/Flight Club days.

As a fan of David Aldridge, good to see him get his.

I'm one of those weirdos who prefers DC and I'm so into more Injustice. I've even been playing tons of the mobile version, I kind of disgust myself.

Swampo is my favorite!

Nah, DC can be great. There's a reason even when flush with success, Marvel still does a nod every now and then. If you're the weirdo, I'm doubly so since Superman's probably my favorite character, especially the cornball stuff like having ALL the powers along with the genius to teleconference different versions of himself through time, space, and dimensions, having a superdog, and spending his afterschool teenage years in the 31st century.

@coolarman: I'm pretty sure Ben is Chaotic Evil tbh. He's chaotic even if it benefits no one, including himself.

  • Dan flips between Lawful Good and Chaotic Neutral.
  • Brad is Lawful Good.
  • Alex is True Neutral.
  • Vinny is Chaotic Good.
  • Jeff is Neutral Good.

Abby I'm suspecting of being Lawful Evil....

Dan is absolutely Chaotic Neutral.

Sometimes he does really good things according to the rules. Sometimes outside of them.

Sometimes he does evil.

You never know what you are going to get.

Vinny is also fairly Chaotic Neutral (I'm thinking of his Murder of Alex in the previous instalment)

This is apt. Vinny fluctuates from super softy Lawful Good to let's kill every pedestrian on the sidewalk. Also, I have trouble labeling Jeff, but some kind of Neutral seems right.

Maybe it's too simplistic, but I assume the cancellation of the NES classic is to free up manufacturing resources for doubling the Switch's production.

Re: Alec Guinness aging more than Jimmy Smits. Same answer for the folks that point to Inner Light Picard and modern day Patrick Stewart.

We've done experiments based on UV exposure and the radical difference in skin aging when comparing clothed parts vs exposed.

One guy was living on a desert planet with two suns in the boondocks where the nearest civilization was a hive of scum and villainy. The other guy was planetary royalty on what looked like a nice temperate world.

Picard was living for decades as an iron weaver (which I assume means blacksmith) on a world whose sun was going nova and the other has lived the life of a well compensated actor.

I always assumed the Clone Wars occurred at about the same time period to Luke as WWII would have been to the '77 teenaged audience of Star Wars, which would explain how a mid 30's Ewan McGregor could age into mid 60's Alec Guiness even accounting for changing standards of Hollywood makeup and lifestyles. That got botched, like a lot of things, but its still close enough that it's not crazy.

From what I've heard that's only the California penal code. But because Hollywood is Hollywood, it's been assumed to be used elsewhere. It's a weird Ouroboros.

Code 1-8-7. Murder-Death-Kill. Code 1-8-7

The video we all wanted to see!

I'm still not convinced by the All-class pick and choose approach for the player character nor the removal of the orders system.

All in all, the most damning thing about this game that even without all the bugs it would still only be middling.

Great write-up, Mr. Shoemaker.

I miss giving orders. I'm of two minds on the pick your abilities mechanic here. I generally HATE having anyone be able to be anything in an RPG, but in a squad as limited as Mass Effect, with the limits on range of options, and now without pausing, I'd rather my main character just be able to do whatever I need and pick the most interesting squad mates. Especially if I might (though not likely) New Game+ on the hardest setting and I need combo powers to help strip defenses fast.

weirdly disappointing the only Nier talk I can get is out of Alex on an entirely separate podcast :(

Not that it would necessarily fix this, but its why I've been hesitant to accept the video format. It's already affected things like doing things visually rather than explaining like on radio, and it takes a person off the Bombcast to run the cameras.

My guess being Jason would at least start conversation about it.

I can already tell I'm going to get annoyed by all the "You're the pathfinder!" nonsense. Can't we have a game where I'm just a somewhat skilled guy who happens to be in the right place at the right time? I want to be me in space basically. With some additional added team leading charisma. I don't want a title that's being thrown around like messiah.

Why do I have to be the only one who can do the thing. Especially when the thing doesn't seem like anything that unique to this one individual. At least Shepard received a one time only warning from an ancient alien race. What makes a pathfinder so special and capable of finding the path? I haven't watched the full video, but the way they talk about "we didn't have a pathfinder before!" makes it sound like they're a bunch of children waiting around for adult supervision before they do anything.

Everything else seems...fine I suppose. Animation is rough, but nothing I can't endure. Combat looks fun. Hard to judge the story and characters without seeing too much, and I don't want to see too much.

Yeah, it seems like they are steering hard into the KOTOR roots, but nothing in the Mass Effect fiction supports this kind of fawning. Like you'd need to implant EDI into a Reaper enhanced Yahg to get close to a being so exceptional that trained experts would be falling over themselves waiting for them.

Or my personal fave bit of trivia is this somehow involves the Cerberus Network report of a lone survivor of DC1938, a garden world with a high krypton atmosphere, rescued by the MSV Kent...
