Congrats dude. We're right in the thick of it ourselves, our first was born April 25th. Just know at the beginning you won't have a lot of time for yourself, that's just the reality of it, especially if you don't have any additional help. Newborns generally feed every 3 hours, and that cycle can take an hour or so getting stuff ready and helping out the mother with the feed and changing diapers and all that. Also just the most laundry I have ever done in my adult life. If you do have downtime, and you don't want to just sleep, I would suggest things that you can play in bite sized chunks, even better if you can do it with one hand while holding the baby in the other. I've personally just been playing a lot of mobile games and the occasional round of MW. But just enjoy the ride, it might feel like hell for the first couple weeks as you adjust to your new life, but it will get better from there.

I'm glad they took a stand and voiced their opinions. I know none of them would consider themselves role models or anything, but as someone that's followed Jeff and co since the HotSpot days from when I was still a shitty teen that cared about nothing, they've definitely influenced my behavior and believes about social issues by just being good dudes.

I always recommend the Rusty Lake and Cube Escape games. Pretty simple point-and-click escape room type games with an overarching story with weird Lynchian vibes. Most are free but there's a few longer ones that are paid. The studio also put out The White Room, which Alex mentioned on the Beastcast a few weeks ago.

Pizza Pizza is terrible. I only ate it all the time during grad school because it was the closest thing next to my house and open late, and wasn't super expensive. It was also Ottawa which was a garbage dump for food anyways.

Parasite, 5/5. I look forward to the inevitable much shittier North American re-make.

I'm someone that hates change, but the older I've gotten the more I've come to accept it as an inevitability. As I've been swept up with life I haven't had as much time to watch all of the site's video content, but the Beastcast has always been highlight of my Friday, in no small part to Dan. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment. Going to miss all your goofy as hell stories.

Rise of Skywalker was disappointing as hell. I'm in the camp that liked TLJ, and this movie just undid everything to give the MOST predictable ending to the trilogy. I was guessing lines and scenes that I hoped they wouldn't go with, and they did of course. Would only recommend just to close out the mainline series.

Anytime someone mentions awful Christmas songs I think of Patton Oswalt's bit on Christmas Shoes.

I also burned out on it pretty quick, but I suspect I may not really like the Bethesda/Obsidian style of RPG that much. The only one I felt captivated by was Skyrim, which I dumped well over 100 hours into.

Oh lordy, this is a tough one since there's just so much Simpsons stuck in my head but picking apart episodes is almost impossible. I will say much like Star Trek TNG, start with the second season. I don't think the show really hits its stride fully until season 3, and it's pretty consistent in quality until...season 8 or 9? As for favourite episodes, these ones are pretty universally considered to be pretty great:

  • Homer the Great
  • Who Shot Mr. Burns (two-parter)
  • Lemon of Troy
  • Cape Feare (actually watch all the ones with Sideshow Bob, they're all pretty good)
  • You Only Move Twice (Hank Scorpio is the best one-off character in Simpsons history)
  • Marge vs the Monorail
  • 22 Short Films About Springfield (steamed hams probably the most memed Simpsons bit)

There's honestly too many to list. Homer Badman is one of my favourites purely because of this scene. Also check out the Treehouse of Horror episodes. They're annual Halloween anthology episodes that usually spoof horror movies (at least the old ones did). I think my faves for those are 4 and 5.
