If a 6-year-old sees a movie that's rated R, that's not the fault of the film or the people who made it. I have not seen the film but am looking forward to it. Seems to me like Ebert is hating for not being suitable for minors, which is ridiculous. Shame, I usually like Ebert. Then again, maybe the movie is shit; I'll revise my post once I've had a chance to form an informed opinion.

This sort of view is understandable but I think somewhat flawed. Before proper science, people used to think that man was the centerpiece and the whole point of the universe, the same went for Earth as a whole. Then we realized how flawed this way of thinking was. I think it's mathematically unlikely that there wouldn't be any other forms of life in the entire, vast universe, the small corner of which our galaxy inhabits. But to assume there must be life out there... well, there doesn't have to be. Life isn't the ultimate goal of the universe, it's just something that happened along the way and if we were indeed the only planet on which it existed, that would go on to show how insignificant life is in the grand scheme of things. "Life" after all, is just a certain way molecules have arranged themselves, nothing more.
To us, of course, it's a hell of a lot more than that, but we're lucky that way.
if you think about it Tali, Garrus , Miranda, and Jacob are the only character that have no reason to leave Shepard what so ever, and any excuse Bioware try to make will just seem stupid.
Tali wants to help Shepard (that goes extra so if shes your LI), plus if you got her exiled she has no where to go except the Normandy. Garrus having lost his squad stays with Shepard because he understand that helping him is important. Miranda and Jacob also stay because if you side with Cerberus in the end they will stay and help since they are Cerberus too. Even if you Don't side with Cerberus, they will stay with you because they agreed with what you did and now they've been fired and have nowhere else to go.

I have either unfortunately. I read this on a few text interviews a couple weeks before the game was released. I completely agree that the first games love interests were crap. I really don't care for the long term romance in the game. Just do it captain kirk style. "

This, pretty much. Though the only ones I really feel I need back are Garrus and Tali. They've been there from the start and they should be there to finish the fight. Also expect Liara to make an appearance of some sort (due to her side plot stuff in ME2) and cameos from several others.. And since Tali is my love interest, I sure hope I get a chance to be with her when it all comes to an end. I wanted her in the first but had to settle for Liara.
Drama-wise, I think Ashley is a more interesting character than Liara. Liara and Tali (in the second game) are pure male nerd fantasy, which is why I chose to romance with them with my main character. Ashley is a biggot. She has her freudian excuse, but it wasn't enough for me. Also, she's religious, which really put me off. There are more interesting characters in the sequel than Tali, perhaps, but none as nice as she is. Supposedly if you "cheat" on your romance option from the first game with someone in the second game, there will be some kind of face off in the third one. Which doesn't bother me, since I really wanted to get it on with Tali in the first game and rejoiced when she was an option in the second.
