The nice thing about being in the Kansai area is it's a short travel to Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Wakayama and Kobe. No more than a couple hours max. Usually much less.

I go to Kyoto about once every 2 weeks and alternate with Osaka. Ton of stuff to do in both cities.

I would have guessed SF4. I didn't realize MvC3 was so popular.

Really happy to see KOF13 gaining steam though. It's really fun to watch the pro's play that game. The way you can make a comeback with an HD combo off an opponents misstep can be epic. COUGH Takuma COUGH

I used to hate them. Turns out I was eating shitty oysters. Currently I really like them.

I wouldnt eat like 12 in a row. I'd say 4-5 is my limit.

@audioBusting: Ah I didn't realize that. Less syllables means more time for game centers :)

^^ I'm pretty sure Domo means "very"

like Domo Arigato means thank you very much.

As for drink prices. I'm from Vancouver Canada so even the largest ripoffs are a great deal. The price of a beer on the main strip in downtown vancouver is around 10$. You can't even really do much better than 5$ with the tax in BC either.

Also VanderSEXXX I'm jelly. IIRC Yokohama has some of the best SF players in Japan. Isn't Daigo from there?

I've been living here for about 5 months (Kyoto).

Can you speak Japanese? If not these phrases will be helpful

Keiko-Desu = No thank you (polite)

People give out free kleenexs and flyers all over tokyo. If you keep taking them your pants will explode. This is a useful way to politely decline.

Arigato = thank you

Sumi-Masen = excuse me

Say this one when you bump into people or need to get through a crowd

Now besides this. You are in Giantbomb which means you probably like video games which means you should go to Akihabara. It contains the best frickin video games stores I've ever seen. It also has numerous 4-9 floor arcades. Sometimes as many 3 arcades on the same block. I would love to live there except it's expensive and also filled with overzealous anime fans and maid cafes. I'm really only into the game aspect personally.

Now there are a ton of great game stores but one that sticks out in my memory is Super Potato. It's 3 floors or retro gaming insanity. The prices are actually really good too. Sometimes you can get some interesting deals like a pack of 9 random gameboy games for 1.50$. You can buy most original old consoles for around 20-50$ excluding the really rare ones like vectrex (which I believe was around 400$). Games have really good prices.

They also have some interesting new retro consoles that take advantage of expired patents. For instance they have a portable game player that accepts famicom and super famicom cartridges.

I googled it and found someone who took some great photos of it. Here it is:

Had mine since september and am really liking it. I did however buy it for the PSM dev kit so my needs are a little different than most.

That said the dev kit is pretty awesome. I can definitely imagine a lot of XBLIG type awesome games coming out in the near future. Aqua kitty is great.
