I've been living here for about 5 months (Kyoto).
Can you speak Japanese? If not these phrases will be helpful
Keiko-Desu = No thank you (polite)
People give out free kleenexs and flyers all over tokyo. If you keep taking them your pants will explode. This is a useful way to politely decline.
Arigato = thank you
Sumi-Masen = excuse me
Say this one when you bump into people or need to get through a crowd
Now besides this. You are in Giantbomb which means you probably like video games which means you should go to Akihabara. It contains the best frickin video games stores I've ever seen. It also has numerous 4-9 floor arcades. Sometimes as many 3 arcades on the same block. I would love to live there except it's expensive and also filled with overzealous anime fans and maid cafes. I'm really only into the game aspect personally.
Now there are a ton of great game stores but one that sticks out in my memory is Super Potato. It's 3 floors or retro gaming insanity. The prices are actually really good too. Sometimes you can get some interesting deals like a pack of 9 random gameboy games for 1.50$. You can buy most original old consoles for around 20-50$ excluding the really rare ones like vectrex (which I believe was around 400$). Games have really good prices.
They also have some interesting new retro consoles that take advantage of expired patents. For instance they have a portable game player that accepts famicom and super famicom cartridges.
I googled it and found someone who took some great photos of it. Here it is:
