Bad news: no 360 until a least the nineth.

Guess what I just ordered?

BioShock. Oh, and a wireless adapter...and Sneak King. Yes, I went and bought Sneak King. Why? I...I don't know. I like the Burger King, and the game always seemed weird enough for me to like it, so, yea. My first two games I'm getting are BioShock and Sneak King.

My system? I went out today and all they had were those stupid bundles for the pro. I don't want Kung Fu Panda, thank-you-very-much. So on Monday (why I have to wait until Monday, you got me), my mother is ordering a 20GB off of Amazon. I'm wondering if that's such a good idea, not because of the small amount of space, but because it, as the site says, is and "outdated" model.

I want to get a second controller as well, and that blue one looks fucking sick, but no new ones I can find. And $60 for that? That's not going to fly.

My mother also said that I can't pick out the one game she'll get me with the system, so I have to write her up a list. Goodie. Here's what I'm putting down:

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Left 4 Dead
Rock Band (hahahaha, in my dreams she'll buy that)
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
Lips (yes, I'm putting down Lips. So sue me)
Kameo: Elements of Power
Overlord
The Orange Box (this goes on the bottom because I already have it off of Steam)

I have a longer list than that, but these are the only games that I'd willingly let me mom buy for me. Call of Juarez, Mirror's Edge, Tales of Vesperia...I'll get those on my own.

And for those that found this entire entry boring/intimidating due to the text, here's a pretty little video for you to muse about:

Well, Holy Shit.

Let me just run this down with the actual scenario, like a screenplay.

Sister: (walks in with Circuit City flyer) Mom wants to know if this bundle would be fine with you for your graduation gift (points to Pro 360 deal)
Me: (takes flyer from her hand and goes to Mom) Ah, yes...that'd be fine Mom!
Mom: I was thinking about giving you the money this week so you could go pick it up, that way you get what you want.
Me: Oh, wow! That'd be-
Mom: I could even have you do that today.
Me: (has a heart attack)
Mom: Oh, but you wouldn't be able to use it until you graduate.
Me: (revives) Of course. Love you mom!

So the bundle comes with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda, neither of which I am terribly interested in, but since I'll be picking up the thing myself, I'll just grab a pro with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts n' Bolts. Or BioShock.

I'm too lazy to go out tonight though. I have programs I still need to work on and my inability to complete one of them is driving me nuts! I know I can do this, but I just keep fudging myself up like no tomorrow. Not to mention I need to finish up some creative writing stories. I don't know which I enjoy more: writing or coding. I love both.

Getting my own 360 (finally)

Alright, here's the scoop. I asked my parents about getting me a 360 for Christmas, but my was all "no dice" because he's afraid that's all I'd end up doing when I transfer. Oh well.

I've been getting a lot of hours lately, so as soon as I get enough for a game and a 360, I'm off to the store. No questions asked.

Well, one question for all you lucky people out there: Which of these titles should I get first (yes, that means I'll be buying them all at some point in time)?

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
BioShock
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Left 4 Dead
Fable 2

I'm strongly leaning towards Banjo-Kazooie because I loved the previous two on the 64. Played through those suckers a million times each. Anyone wishing to persuade me otherwise, or I guess persuade me for my second choice, by all means do so.

Programming and Christmas

I can't seem to concentrate on anything right now. I'm having trouble understanding arrays, so I'm reading over that chapter in my textbook right now. I love this stuff, but it's just so hard to wrap my head around without some solid examples.

Christmas? Bekern made me think of what I want for Christmas. Maybe I can convince my family to get me a 360 for Christmas if they buy me nothing else. Maybe. Or maybe as a graduation gift this December? Who knows.

And just because I love Kids in the Hall:

Post a Little Happiness

I realize that I've been dwelling much too much on how crappy things are going for me lately, so I figured it was time for a change. Let the happy videos begin!

Jacki's Adventures: The Library's Toys

I recently order a few books from the library and two just came in today, and since I had nothing else to do and the library is not terribly far away, I biked it.

Oh god, the pain.

When I was holding my bike while I waited for my dad to open the garage door, I could barely keep my grip and my legs decided, "Hey, I don't feel like functioning right now," so I went to my room with some Italian Ice and collapsed on my bed.

When I recovered, I opened up one of the books I received, I Am Plastic: the Designer Toy Explosion by Paul Budnitz, which is a terribly thick, hardcover book, may I mention. Felt wonderful on my back, as you can imagine. In any case, the book is chock full of images from recent designer toys ranging from Asia, Europe, the United States, and about anywhere else that manufactures unique toys. I think quite a number of these are so worth while to look at that I spent the last few hours looking for images online to share with you (yes, you). It stinks that I couldn't find all the ones I wanted, but that's probably for the best considering how many I have.

Let's show off some game related toys.

Red Magic makes some basic blank/naked dolls called CiBoys and some set clothes. I prefer the To-7 (pictured) because it has a power button as a belly button. Anyway, the clothing ranges from Star Wars to Spiderman to Batman to Captain America to Pirates to Hello Kitty to...oh, what's this? Bison? Yep, that's Bison. They might not come right out and say who each character is like in poor Ronald Duck's case, but it's rather obvious who's being portrayed.

Toy2R is next up with mini-toys that are easily measured with a standard ruler. Unlike CiBoys, Qees straight out represent what they are. Sure, XBox, Sony, and Samsung logos can be construed as advertisement, but hey, they're representing! REPRESENT! HUT HUT! Other things that might interest you are the Hellboy Qees and the PSP Qee...though that one is limited edition. No sign of Nintendo, but like most people say, they aren't exactly third-party friendly.

The company I'd like to mention gaming-wise is Sket One...though there's nothing really else to say other than hey, Operation. He's operating on himself. HARD. CORE.

I'll leave you guys with a link to a gallery I collaborated of some of the better specimens of toys I found in the book and online. If you fine any of these interesting, I truly recommend giving the book a look at. Very interesting art that you're not likely to find anywhere else. And hey, Astronaut Jesus. Word.

The worst prices for text books. Ever.

This semester since it's my last one before I get my Associates and I'm paying for it all, I'm only taking a few classes. I can say with no exaggeration that I've taken up to 18 credits worth of classes and have only had to pay at the most $250-275 for my books all together, and that's at bookstore price.

Not this semester. Of course not, that'd be ridiculous. I only need four books and they total nearly $400, if I decided to buy them at the bookstore. Thank goodness I'm not that stupid and bought them all online for about $170.

Considering I shipped three books today that gave me about $120, I'd say that I have little to complain about until the professors decide to not have me use my books. For a five hour course on Astronomy, I better damn well use my book...

Since I'm on the subject, I don't know exactly what or where I'm going to do/go after I get this degree. An AA in Liberal Arts isn't saying much other than, "Hey world! I went through harder English 101 classes than most of you ever dreamed of!" I still want to do video game design, but don't have a hell of a lot of money am an reluctant (but willing if no other good options are available) to take out a loan for college. The hell can I go that will give me a useful education in the field? Are internships my only hope?
