If you want Katanas you should follow the Huntsman's Copse route. Far down that route (several areas after) you'll find enemies that can drop them, and in the same area a hidden item that lets you unlock a merchant that sells another one.

I switched to an Uchigatana myself after having used the Fire longsword for the majority of the game waiting to be able to turn it into a Magic weapon (I still haven't found the orestone that I need so I gave up and just went with an enchanted Uchi to mix things up a little).

I sided with Creighton without hesitation because I'd trust a straightforward, emotional guy over an ambiguous, "mild-mannered" one any day. Then he still ended up betraying me for some reason...pretty great. Sounds like they were both bad, that works I guess. I got his armor and the loot, and the trap didn't kill me so I don't have a lot to complain about anyway.

Either way it's been the most interesting character thing I've come across on the game. When I realized that "Wait, Pate is like a possibly very subtle Patches and that guy was in a cell I unlocked" my mind was blown. Seeing them mixing the old Dark and Demon's tropes was really entertaining.

You're purty.

I mean...in a lot of situations that would've just come off as creepy, but I figured if there was an approriate time to compliment a lady then this would be it. Right?

Good luck with the life stuff and also, just to be safe, fuck you for all the videogame related bs we probably disagree on.

The character model doesn't look great at this stage, something about the shading or bloom or whatever, but the movement and animation looks ace so that's great.

When I had lost my way, my mind surely dimmed by the filth inherent of mine own kind, only he was so merciful as to take me in and accept me in his service. Only he would, in his infinite mercy, accept this wayward, selfish soul and set it on a path of righeousness. I am of course speaking of the great and magnanimous Rat King, to whom I've sworn fealty.

For him too open my eyes and senses to the unworthiness of humans, yet allow even one as lowly such as myself to serve in attonement. My humble loyalty given, and his greatness' benevolent trust recieved in return. Can a vassal ask for anything greater?

All hail the Rat King, I say!

ALL GLORY TO THE RAT KING!

@encephalon: I recently used a Ring of Life Protection to get like 22 000 souls out of a boss room, to my surprise it didn't actually get destroyed but just "broke" which meant I could repair it for 3000 souls. If you ever have a lot more than 3000 souls in a boss room where it's hard to "Bone out" it could be worth putting one on.

Pressing the spell or drink button during the last part of a roll to immediately fire/heal once the roll is finished doesn't seem to work anymore. It trips me up so I lose half a second every now and then, which can be bad.

Otherwise I like most if not all the changes to the game. The different feel of the movement took some time to get used to but right now I feel as comfortable with it as I did in DS1. Not having messages or bloodstains doesn't bother me either.

Man this is really helpful, I was wondering why I could only Power Stance with Daggers. I'm a wizard so I've put no extra points into STR or DEX beyond being able to swing longswords.

While swinging two daggers around I made a casual observation of the benefits of dual weilding without power stance. The dagger, with its short reach, will take a big step forward during its first attack in a chain and a shorter step forward in the second attack of a chain. Each hit that connects pushes an enemy away slightly so alternating between the first and second attack in rapid succession (which is what you do when you attack with the dagger a bunch) seems to eventually push your target out of your reach. When dualweilding two daggers you can alternate between the R1 and L1 buttons every attack. This allowed me to attack quickly while using the large step forward of the first attack in a chain every time, thus it was a lot easier to keep the enemy in range.

In short, you move more forward when alternating L1/R1 than just using one of them, and this keeps the enemy you're pushing back with your attacks in range for more attacks. I don't know how usefull this is outside of dagger use, since daggers are the only weapon I can swing enough times for it to matter.

Best of luck to him, and if this means he wants to make another game like those DS Castlevanias then he has my full support. I'm totally ready to play another one of those.
