Flowcharts Are For Pansies - Spreadsheets Are Where It's At!

IN THIS BLOG:

Hey, folks!  Is it really that time of the week again?  You know, it seems like almost a century now since I was plugging in Conviction and slamming away at it.  I haven't put it back in since last week, either.  In personal dealings, my Mustang has been acting like a bitch the last week.  After getting the rack and pinion replaced, as well as a new power steering pump, I think she's FINALLY ready to stop giving me problems.  *knock on wood*  *cross fingers*  *grabs four-leaf clover*  *perform ritualistic animal sacrifice to the Gods in return for letting me have at least one week without this motherfucker breaking down*  So let's move on, shall we?

No Longer Indestructible

I am not the greatest Street Fighter player of them all.  Hell, I'm barely mediocre anymore.  While Street Fighter IV was fun while it lasted, the glaring issues of the online search functions just pissed me off after a while.  Moreover, I didn't feel like I was reaching any new levels of play.  I knew that players fellow GBers like loltima, SpecialBuddy, etc would just lead to my ass feeling a little more than sore.  Meanwhile, playing my buddies means I'm playing the same exact shit that I've been playing for a long time - Kens and Zangiefs.  With Super, it meant that there would be a change, so I've been waiting for this game to come out.

I've yet to beat a Bison online, but it's only a matter of time...right?

When I say that Super Street Fighter IV is good, I don't mean that as "ZOMG THIS GAME IS GREAT".  I mean "it's Street Fighter, you've played this many times before, and it still works".  The 10 new characters in the game all have a very unique feel to them.  Ibuki and Makoto don't feel like any other fighters that were in SFIV, and even guys like Cody and Guy have a unique feel to them.  A lot of eyes are on Hakan and Juri, as they are the new kids on the block.  I've been spending a lot of time with Juri, and I think she's got a great flow to the way she plays.  There has been some criticism that she is just another Chun-Li, but I do not see that at all.  If anything, I think she feels like a good mix between the smooth flow of Cammy and the deadly accuracy/speed of a shoto.  She does have some massive flaws, like being paper thin and having many ways to block out and cancel out her moves, but when she gets in there, she can do some serious damage.

The big problem with SSFIV is that Capcom hasn't done much to fix their online search capabilities.  When you would hit Quick Match in vanilla SFIV, it would show you a couple of different players, most of which came back as saying "unable to join session".  The only difference between that and Super is that you don't see the couple of different players to choose from.  That is in your custom match bar, and it shows a lot more players.  However, I've still gotten a massive number of "unable to join session" moments...even when it says there are 1 of 2 players in the lobby.  In essence, they need to fix this shit, because it's getting annoying as fuck.  The new modes, like Endless Battle and Team Battle, are fun but nothing spectacular.

Essentially, you already know if you are going to play Super Street Fighter IV or not, so it's not like I have to tell you anything more about it.  It's good, it's a fighting game, and you'll still find a million Ken scrubs online with SRK spams.

Leave It To Something From Waco To Break Shit

Dr. Pepper has finally released their SPECACT packages for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  Basically, the DLC packs are nothing more than camouflages for each of your classes, but only for one weapon each - the last weapon of each kit.  There are also a few new pins and a new insignia for each class, as well as four new achievements to unlock.  How do you get those packages unlocked?  Well, you can either buy Dr. Pepper products and hope the code you get is for BC2 stuff...or you can simply follow the instructions on this thread and not purchase a damn thing

Really?  Yes, really.  EA and Dr. Pepper have handled shit so poorly that their stuff is easy to get around, and in turn, it almost defeats the entire purpose of the promotion.  At this point, just give everyone the upgrades and move on.  Meanwhile, the achievements are not able to be unlocked at this moment until they put out an update for the game.  Therefore, I've got four achievements, 60G, just sitting there and waiting to unlock.  It's just a little annoying, folks.

So if you are into BC2, and you want to get that stuff, just follow the instructions on that thread and you are good to go.

Achievements Don't Mean Anything...

...but they sure are fun to get!  I busted 50,000 gamerscore last week, and this time, the milestone went to Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.  As I hit 50,000, I started asking myself if I play too many video games.  The average gamerscore sits right around 15-20k, meaning that I would be playing about two times the amount of game time that most other people.  Well, that's if we went by stats.  The fact is that Modern Warfare doesn't have online achievements, and many other people spend most of their time focusing on two or three different multiplayer-heavy games on their 360s.  In essence, I found a way to justify that there are WAAAAAY more people playing WAAAAAY more time than I am.  This comforts me a little.

That's all for this week, folks!  Until next time, piece...
