Alright, so as many of you now know, Mr. Dave Snider has issued a challenge.  He claims that we cannot get 6,000 entries done on Halo 3 ODST contest-related pages done by October 21st, the deadline for both contests. 
 
I say we can. 
 
Here's the bet:  if we get 6,000 entries done, Dave will have to shave his head and beard, as well as scream out random gibberish and languages during the duration...all the while, RYAN is playing barber for the event.  I will also donate $100 to the charity of Dave's choice (and no, that's not the "Dave's Booze Collection" charity).
 
If we DON'T get 6,000 entries done, I will shave my head and beard.  All of my hair will be donated to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged children 18 years or younger who are suffering from long term illness.  For those who are unaware of how long my hair it, it is my full arms-length...and that's quite a way. 
 
So, the challenge is made.  Who will win?

Actually I believe he said you couldn't get 6,000 people to enter, not get 6,000 edits done. Which is a HUGE difference.

I'd rather see you shave than Dave. I'm going to throw the bet by denying all ODST submisssions! Ok I wouldn't do that, but I still want you to lose.

I already edited the ODST page about a week ago. Getting 6000 people to edit Halo related pages is going to be tough.

(actually I edited ODST a bit ago to get a shot at a free T-shirt but this charity stuff makes me feel better inside)

On the ODST contest page it says "Each wiki contribution point you earn towards ODST related pages (including previous subs) earns you a separate entry into the contest". To me, that sounds like an easy accomplishment. All the ODST related pages have tonnes of points, surely it can't be too hard to get 6000 points on those pages entered in the contest? Or are "entries" in the context of this bet something different? Individual people? Number of edits?
 
Either way, I can't see you winning jakob. Dave has access to the stats so far. He knows how many entries have been received, and can make a decent approximation of how many are to come. I'm sure he knows you're going to lose.
 
Also, sticking my wiki moderator hat on, I want to say this to everyone - DO NOT try to attempt to abuse the system for this bet!!!!

P.S. For a individual to count, do you have to actually earn at least 1 edit point?

it will be tough to get that many people to edit. good to hear this is for charity though. i uploaded some pics a while back. that counts right? if not i'll edit something on the page.

I don't know if you can win, but it's for all pages with the ODST background skin, right? If so, consider me willing to contribute to your cause. I would like to see a picture of Dave bald.

Either way, I thank everyone for the comments and attention to it.  As far as I know, the bet is for 6,000 people entered in the contest.  That's a long haul, but there's three weeks to go for it.  I also haven't heard Snide confirm that he's up for the bet.

I love how no one's noticed that I've put my hair on the line as well, and even at a much lower tally. So that's where my confidence stands on this whole affair =P
