Alright, guys.  I'm going to be adding to my collection of ink on Thursday, as my roommate is wanting to get her first set of ink before she does her Suicide Girls photo shoot...and I'm not about to let a friend go get some ink without getting some myself!!!  However, I'm at a loss of what to get.

The Buddha one is pretty cool. I would recommend making it color though. Or putting something colorful in the background. I dunno.

Well, it's personal taste, but the kind of tattos that I really like are the ones that are just... how can I put it... ornaments?

@Jayge - I don't really know how I could add color to it, but I'm sure that the doods at Art & Sol (the ink shop we're goin to) will know a way how if I go for that...which I'm seriously considering now, since Bodhidharma is one of my personal heroes.  Here's a piece of ink that my cousin got free-handed on him from Grasshopper:

So yeah, these doods are quality artists.  None of that is pre-drawn!  Therefore, when they get a piece of pre-drawn stuff, they can pretty much turn it into whatever you want.

However, I can't totally listen to my cousin, as he's also the same dood that has tattoos of Brisco County Jr., Bubba Hotep, and this:

Yeah, I don't know how you could work color into it personally, but it's one of those things that makes you think "if this thing somehow did manage to have color integrated, it would look great". Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

I love other people's ink, but I made it through the Navy without getting any. I don't see myself changing anytime soon. My mother-in-law got a tattoo when she turned 60, so I never say never.

I am not a tattoo person, but that Buddha pic you have there is a good one. I would recommend that one and the one your cousin has is pretty sweet, if a bit large, hehe.

Bucket, I would NEVER get a band logo tattoo'd on me.  Bands change names, members, and styles to the point that one day, I may not like them like I did and I'd regret it.  lol  I avoid letting that happen.

I think it could look really good with color in it, definitely.  Maybe if it were done like a light watercolor painting or something, with the colors being a bit off and out of the lines, kind of like old Japanese watercolor artwork is.  Do it, like, behind Bodhidharma's calligraphy portrait there or something...I don't know.

Unfortunately, my cousin doesn't have any pictures of his "Bruce" leg.  He's still gotta get Ash and the character that Bruce plays on Burn Notice on there.  lol

OH SHIT!  I JUST REALIZED WHAT I WANNA GET!!!

 I've been planning it for years now, and I can't believe I fucking FORGOT about it!!!  Check it out, and I'll throw the story out for it:

Story:

A lot of us had this friend named Dan Rowan when I was in high school.  He was a badass artist, as well as the lead singer for Locus (originally named Zero Signal).  They were a badass metal band, and I had the utmost respect for all the doods.  Me and the bassist actually remain very close friends to this day.

Either way, a very tragic accident happened when he was hit by a car and killed.  It was a very sad day for all of us, as this was a dood that didn't deserve to die...and he went WAY before his time.  He was a great artist.  It was devastating to the entire city.  His funeral had an attendance that was upwards of about 500 people, and even then, there were still people lined up outside the church to pay their respects.

He was also one of my personal heroes.  He was always honest, always forward, a very friendly and outgoing dood, and even if you weren't very good at something, he would always look at what you were doing with positivity and encourage you to keep going.

A few years after he died, I was going through my old Zero Signal and Locus flyers, all of which he personally drew.  To the left of this is my favorite one, the boy chained underwater in the mouth of a bubble.  I asked him about this when he had drawn it, and it was something he drew when he wrote one of their songs "Widemouth"...which just happens to be my favorite song by them.  I told him that I would get it as some ink one day...but I've just never had the money.

THAT is going to be my next tattoo.  The mouth of the bubble swallowing the boy, chaining him underwater to drown.

It's gonna be a lot of work and a lot of pain, but it'll be worth it every step of the way.

All I needed was to be able to have an outlet to openly think about this stuff with some people to be able to get where I need to go, and in this short time, you guys helped me get there...along with some RL peoples.  = D  THANK YOU!

Yeah, it's too bad that it was all before the popularity of music streaming online.  There's only, like, 6 more CDs in existance of their only album.  Such a badass album.  Their old drummer is now one of the orchestral percussionists at Baylor, however.  = D  That dood is a BADASS drummer.

And about the watercolor thing, yeah, that's along the lines of what I was thinking too; but that poster is simply too perfect. Go for it.

My buddy has the best tat in the world though. We were drunk in Amsterdam and convinced him that we'd pay for a tattoo if we got to decide what it was.
When he agreed we found tattoo parlor under a bar/coffee shop, with a brothel next to it. We made him get it there to make it as seedy as possible.
He ended up with this.

I have most of what I want to get planned out. I'm finally getting (sometime before summer)  my half sleeve done that I've wanted for past few years (minus the band name and skulls in the flames) on my right arm, eventually making it a whole theme.

@glassjaw:  I don't usually tell people what they mean.  Sometimes, I'm not even sure they mean what I had them translated to mean.  Most of the time, when people ask me what they mean...I just tell them that they mean "ask me what these mean".  They laugh and say "really?"...and then I say "I don't know, you tell me.  = D".  Plus, I think the one on my right arm is actually mirrored for some stupid reason.  The dood that did that one was a fucking idiot.  I've honestly thought about getting them covered up in complete black and redone in white, just to make sure they mean what I know they mean.  =  /

I plan on getting sleeves eventually just really haven't put much thought into it, first tattoo I get is going to be two girls one cup.

Yeah, the chest burster tattoo is an internet legend.  Totally badass ink...just like the dood that has the Spider-Man costume tattoos.
