Turning on Eagle Vision for This Blog Reveals No Hidden Messages

Sorry to disappoint you, folks.
To start, hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving weekend, as well as a good Black Friday. I know that I did. You're about to read about it!

I walked in with six games, many of which were SUPER old and not really worth much in value (Condemned 1, GTA IV, Ninja Gaiden 2, The Darkness, Darkest of Days), and one game that was still fairly new (Modern Warfare 2)...and I walked out with four brand new games that have put a smile on my face Those games would be Assassin's Creed II, Crackdown (for the THIRD time), Just Cause, and Infinite Undiscovery.
Let's talk about Assassin's Creed II, folks. I played the original when it came out (although it was not on the Xbox that I have linked to my profile). That game was okay when it came out. When I went to play through it a second time...which you WILL see linked on my profile's achievement progress...I realized how contrived and boredom-inducing that game was. Therefore, you might understand why I could give two shits less about Assassin's Creed II. However, like many others around here, the GB staffs' words are infectious. After hearing so much praise coming from RYAN about the game...as well as hearing how varied the gameplay was...I just HAD to try it out.

There are two problems that I have with the game, however. The first problem is the design of the Assassin's Tombs. It's like this: I understand that the same guys who make Assassin's Creed also make Prince of Persia...but they got some PoP into my AC. I know that both games have parkour, but seriously, the first Assassin's Tomb I entered made me drop my controller and say "fucking really, man?". Worse than that, the last two that I did wanted me to do these super crazy and elaborate platforming segments IN A TIME LIMIT...with a control system that can be fidgety sometimes. BAD IDEA! Hopefully, this WON'T be making a return in later games. The second problem would be the lack of real world segments. I can understand why there is so little time showing Desmond and the gang back in "present day", but I felt like they did a really good job of making Lucy, Rebecca, and Sean stand out as characters. It also felt weird coming from the first game...where you were out of the Animus every couple of DNA sequences and chillin in the real world...getting that piece of the story...to jumping into the Animus 2.0 and being in there for damn near 7 hours of gameplay before you saw the real world again! The tease at the end of the game, with you playing as Desmond taking out Obstergo guards in the "present day", was cool, but it wasn't enough for me to overlook the lack of...well...BREAKS in the story.
Regardless, the game is amazing. It's so amazing, it's easily my Game of the Year. There was so much improvement in this game, and it is seriously the kind of game that forces you to pay attention to it. I would say that it's a testament to how good the game is when NONE of the achievements amongst 4,000 people are rare! It means people are finishing the game, which means we'll have plenty of discussion. Now, I just want them to bring on the DNA sequence 12 and 13 DLC!!!
As for the other games, Just Cause is goddamn crazy wicked awesome insane and has me COMPLETELY psyched for the sequel, and I have yet to plug in Infinite Undiscovery. However, based on the videos I've watched for it, I might actually be able to get into that game. For $5.00 brand new, I'm pretty sure I can find a way to dig that game.
On a final note, I would like to publicly congratulate Karmum on being the first to hit 10,000 forum posts. Don't worry, I've got my eyes on 20,000 already! = P
Until next time, piece!
P.S. - New York Sharp is a great midday snack, especially with some tasty butter crackers!
