I was in a similar boat and ended up getting an FX 8350. If you can save a bunch of money by sacrificing like 5 frames then I say go for it. I bought a Cooler Master heatsink though and have it overclocked to 4.5Ghz. Runs great too though my 660ti is my real bottleneck, but I still don't feel like I'll need to upgrade it for a while.

Double Double with everything, well done fries and a Coke. I love those fresh hot onions. The only other place that gets close to good burgers is Carl's Jr. but they are super expensive too.

CARRIE GOUKOSsSSSsSSSSSsssSSssSSssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

She has reached what sounds like a pretty good position within Mythic, managing Mythic's use of the Warhammer franchise or something. So like, the responsible adult thing for her to do would be to keep that job and that steady paycheck. On the other hand, Warhammer Online shut down a couple days ago, Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes was also shut down a while back (which I think she was a major part of), and for all we know maybe Mythic's time with the Warhammer license has run out?

Mythic is either due to announce a new Warhammer game pretty damn soon (there's nothing right now), in which case Carrie would be involved front and center, or possibly they won't have Warhammer for much longer, in which case Carrie would be out of a job. So maybe they could get Carrie in the new year? WILD SPECULATION.

I thought they straight up lost the licenses to Warhammer already and that's why they had to shut all of their games down?

@royalewifcheese: Last month I got a 2013 15" Macbook Pro Retina (2880x1800), 2.0 i7, 8gb RAM, and 256gb flash storage for $1749 at Best Buy, normally $1999

I finally know what MB stands for. Money Bags

That laptop does sound awesome, but an $1800 PC sounds way more awesome. But then, you can't take it with you in a backpack, so.

Anyway, I don't even know what point I'm trying to make here. Just, macs are really expensive, but if I were to get a new laptop, it'd probably be a mac... maybe. They look good.

I guess I'm lucky that I'm a little old fashion when it comes to taking things with me and don't have a need to. I barely keep a phone with me for emergencies and never take a laptop or tablet or anything else. That holds true even when I travel. I don't even bring books or anything like that. I usually look out a window and or listen to the radio.

Then again I've never held a job or went to school where I needed a computer with me at all times. So I hate the fact that you pay like a 75% premium on portability when that could all go towards power on a desktop.

Might dump it onto a separate SSD and have a play, wonder if it's a openSUSE or Debian fork. Probably Debian since a lot of their early work was on Ubuntu.

It's a custom distribution not based on Debian or any other distribution.

From Engadget:

As promised, the OS is built on Linux (not based on Ubuntu, we're told, but entirely custom), though you'd never know it as the only interactive layer is all Steam.

Oh I wasn't suggesting they haven't put significant work into tailoring Linux for their own needs, simply citing their early test bed. Ubuntu itself uses Debian package manager and the Steam client has been served up in .deb form on Linux until now, so it's likely that will be the package manager bundled up with the rest of the OS.

Well I guess we'll find out either way in 2 days. Woo!

@the_drizzle: replace the drive and wait for the Steam Machines to come out. They're pretty much made for people who don't want to futz with building a PC themselves.

While we're at it. this has been at me for some time, the way the guys pronounce 'garage' always throws me.

They always pronounce it 'ga-rarge', all posh and what not. Garage 'ga-ridge' is a place where you store a car, things get dirty and/ or music is made sparking a scene in the 90's.

Why does Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear say Mazda as Mazdur (where does that wild R always appear from?) and Nissan and Nissin? and it's not GAY RODGE Jeremy it Gah-roge.
