As someone who only plays a few games a year (outside of Nintendo games) Game Pass at $15 a month is a bad deal. I would rather pay for 3 games a year, heck even 3-5 at discounted prices, and own the games versus paying $180 a year for Game Pass to rent games. If you play a ton of games that are on XBOX / PC it's a great deal, I just don't have the time. There's a reason the Halo Infinite campaign at $60 is one of Steams best sellers despite being on Game Pass.

Also, if you get invested into a game and want to buy DLC, season passes, etc then none of that is included with the standard Game Pass version. At that point you are then buying DLC for a rented game on Game Pass.

It's due to the Zoom type podcasts. Hopefully we see some of the staff return to the office for in person podcasting. A majority of the staff is still near San Francisco and could theoretically go into the office a couple days a week (plus any future west coast hires), one being for the Bombcast. That hybrid style of work approach seems like what a lot of companies are changing to. When that will happen though who knows, maybe by summer of next year.

It would be nice to hear about future return to work plans, if that's a hybrid approach, to say "We will be back in the office at some point, just not yet" or even if its to say "We are never going back". Just let the fan base know.

I hear ya, great points. Part of the issue IMO is Microsoft choosing not to create games exclusively for the Series X. Instead MS seems more focused on just having as many people as possible play games on one of their systems and ideally through Game Pass. As a result developers now need to support multiple systems and hardware versus just creating the best experience they can for the latest system. Compare this to Sony with the Playstation 5 that has games being developed exclusively for it and to take advantage of the systems unique features with no concern of accommodating the previous generation system.

As someone who only plays a few games a year I think XBOX Game Pass isn't worth it. I rather buy 2-5 games a year individually (and often on sale) versus paying $10 - $15 a month for Game Pass. After paying monthly for say 3 years that's $360 - $540 just for leasing games that you never own. Also, even if a game is on game pass it's always the standard edition and you have to pay more to unlock any DLC, battle passes, etc.

@lonelyspacepanda: I'm with you. Fully vaccinated here and now enjoying life as I did pre-pandemic. I have no worries going to the movies, concerts, bars, restaurants, etc. If I somehow still get Covid so be it, I'm going to live my life. Just recently two of my family members got Covid after being fully vaccinated, both are 60+ years old. Each have been fully vaccinated for 3 months prior to getting Covid. Both family members had minor flu / cold symptoms and have recovered. Their symptoms were far less severe then the friend that passed Covid to them who wasn't fully vaccinated. Once I can get a booster shot I'll get it but in the meantime I'm going to keep living my life.

Probably in the minority here but still prefer to buy and own my games versus leasing them on a subscription service. As someone who only plays a handful of games a year it's cheaper for me to buy games on sale versus paying for multiple subscription services. I'll use Battlefield 5 and Jedi Fallen Order for example. Bought BF5 at release for $50, and Jedi 6 months after release for $15. That's $65 and I've played BF5 on and off since release. If I paid $15 a month for EA Play Pro it would have cost me significantly more money over the past 2 years.

I'm tired of subscription services in general and have started to cancel some. Almost every company seems to want $10+ a month for a service.

I'm just imagining all of us in one last Giant Bomb PAX panel yelling to the entire crew "GIANT BOMB, GIANT BOMB, GIANT BOMB" over and over while giving a standing ovation to them.

Lol good point! I'm excited to see where Giant Bomb goes from here, what new things they try, and who they bring onboard next. As sad as it is seeing Vinny, Brad, and Alex leave it also means new beginnings for both them and Giant Bomb.

Many lol. I just finished downloading all Bombcast and Beastcast episodes (audio only) to have a local archive. Total space is just under 70GB.

I don't think this is the last we will hear of Vinny, Brad, Alex, and Jeff on a podcast together. There's too much history and friendship among those 4 for that to stop permanently. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the occasional podcast with the 4 of them.

Also, based on Vinny's Twitter comment from yesterday he sounds excited to eventually start something new with the "then get back to working hard on something new" line. I'm excited to hear what that next new thing is!
