Reddit can be disappointing.

I visit Reddit more or less every day. I like that they promote free speech, and the community has done great things for people. But then sometimes a large amount of users get behind something that sucks. This is from today:

Top of the front page.
Top of the front page.

It's just lame, and shows that a lot of people's sense of humor is disconnected from their conscience.

Reddit has some good stuff hidden away. I used to visit for specific subreddits, and for the site in general before that. Nowadays I don't even bother. Reddit peaked for me around January 2011, and it's been downhill since. There used to be some really cool stuff on the front page, but no longer.

Also, I despise the greater community. There are too many holier-than-thoust-website zealots engaging themselves with mutual ego stroking. At least 4chan-goers openly admit they're a bunch of dirtbags, and much like reddit, there are parts of 4chan which are actually pretty fine, it's just that everyone thinks of /b/ and /v/ as the face of the site.

You really think Dinklage would be offended by this? He is playing a dwarf that is routinely insulted regarding his height every episode.

The perception people have of Reddit on this website is absolutely hilarious. You idiots (not the OP) do realise that Reddit is merely a combined view of multiple different sources and communities, right? Subreddits house entirely different people and are communities within themselves, the only place Reddit comes together is on the front page and default subreddit picks. (common ones like /r/pics, /r/todayilearned, and so on)

I use it a lot as it's a pretty great way to quickly find information about a variety of subjects, be it learning, technology or just random facts. There's a lot of subreddits I wouldn't step foot in, doesn't mean the entire site needs to be condemned. Good grief.

There is a setting that hides stuff that you have downvoted, turn that setting on and downvote on.

Yes, yes it does. That damn site should be taken down. That place is nothing but racists, meme-spouting idiots, overly zealous "atheists," and that fucking "we're better than the rest of the internet, so worship us" attitude that's prevalent all over the website. Honestly, the internet would be much better off without those holier-than-thou fuckheads. At least the people of 4chan acknowledge and accept the fact that they're scumbags and plain horrible people, but not internet darling Reddit, who can do no wrong.

What I like best about it is the criticisms of it being an insular community only interested in its own in-jokes and validating each other's opinion.... on Giant Bomb. An insular community only interested in its own in-jokes and validating each others opinion.

Watching people in internet communities get angry because other people exist who are in other internet communities, that are happy by themselves... it is like watching jingoism or chauvinism in its infancy. That's where it starts. "What? They do things the way they like to do things instead of the way we do things? ... I don't like it, we should do something about them."

Reddit is complete ass. That being said, this is not very offensive to me. Stay off Reddit is the moral of the story.
