Looking forward to a more Dynamic Giant Bomb! I think given the very temporal nature of a lot of games media, rotating in more limited series with contractors seems to be the call.
I do agree, as someone who regulars the website - I wish there was a text post (and in general more TLC for website content beyond the forums) - not all of us are twitter/FB users
Not sure how 'hot' they are, but here's mine (hot takes seem like attention-seeking exercise - yes I acknowledge the irony/hypocrisy of my post)
Xbox 360 is the greatest all-around home console that has been made so far - and yes, that is despite the RRoD screwups. (This coming from someone who's been playing video games since the NES/Mega Drive days)
Conversely, MS convincing us (me included) that paying for online services that were once free is one of the worse things that's happened - especially in a world where Steam exists.
Dualshocks were never a great layout - easily outclassed by the time the OG Xbox and GC controllers were out (or anything with off-set sticks)
The terms 'overrated'/'underrated' are lazy terms that don't explain anything
The phrase 'it's not perfect' is an awful phrase that often is used to insincerely acknowledge perceived flaws while hiding or hand-waving potential criticism
As much as I enjoy CoD4 etc - the gear/weapon progression system it popularised one of the worst things to happen to multiplayer gaming. It's unbalanced and rewards hours played over skill learned
GoG is the only store that has done digital games 'right' - i.e. no DRM
If lots of people have a 'hot take' about something...it's not a hot take (I'm sure what I've written can be included in this)
Not enough time is spent on reviewing the technical quality of the final product - outside of Digital Foundry. That's not to say other criticism is not valid, but the pendulum has swung hard the other way leading to a lot of hand-waving of serious bugs and quality-control issues with games.
Review scores are fine as long as it's a 5-point scale or less.
VR has better uses outside of gaming than within gaming
Weapon degradation rarely enhances a game and often is a lame crutch for padding out 'gameplay'
The point above also addresses games with lots of crap to collect - lame padding that rarely benefits the player
