Thanks for shouting me out! I'll hopefully be able to up the pace on the NamCompendium this year. Already chopping away at Pac-Man Pt. 2, which will be the most complicated tale woven in this project for a while.

@retrometal: Hey, thanks for reading it! Part 2 is definitely a thing that will happen, soon-ish, but honestly I'm looking forward to covering some less terribly important stuff again. King & Balloon and Tank Battalion are far less intimidating, with less convoluted history to research. Sounds wonderful.

Thank you for all the time you put into this one specifically. I only recently finished playing FFX to the end with my partner and barring the letdown that is Yu Yevon, I'm kinda with you and @zombiepie that the game is a real gem of an early PS2 title. Looking forward to your denouement of the NIS strategy game showdown!

Would you recommend I hunt down the Gamecube version of Symphonia, or do you find the PS3 port to be to your liking. To the latter point, I think it is telling that ToS standalone is priced the same as ToS plus its sequel on PSN...as if to say Dawn of the New World is complete cruft.

It's what single-handedly killed Borderlands 2 for me. I loved the gameplay, but any time a character opened their mouth, I would just roll my eyes and groan.

You and me both. BL2 remains one of my most regretted purchases in gaming just for the truly abysmal writing throughout the game. Didn't help that my friends never really turned out for multiplayer either.

@inevpatoria: I have a brother who is not even remotely a gamer, but to this day he will occasionally pop off a "My mother's my sister!" while I'm in the room. It's an evergreen bit of dialog.

I wound up playing this to completion in 2013 IIRC, and even at that point the game felt creaky as hell. I wound up playing it as conservatively as possible. After every single mission I would cruise over to my safe house and save, because holy shit losing all of the weapons I had accumulated sucked. It's certainly possible to see the nucleus of so many contemporary urban setting open world games here, and I imagine the jump to GTA3 from its 2D predecessors was mind blowing. For me though, it was just the hot shit game to be playing in middle school. Now it's kind of a curio.

Also, the carefully placed sniper rifle behind a bush as you enter the last level sorta demonstrated to me that they realized the whole level was bullshit and the only way to realistically handle it for most people would be to cheese them a gun to clear out enemies at the dam. Seemed sloppy.

@thatpinguino: Sensible! Guess I'll just start throwing each episode at my blog and let my _ahem_ VAST FOLLOWING of Giant Bomb community members get on-boarded through that avenue. Danke!

Silly question, but do you cross post these on the forums? If I were looking to shamelessly promote the HG101 podcast, where would be the correct place to do that?
