@conmulligan: Yeah, they've even rejected an update to the Mac app because they're worried I'm using GB content without permission. Maddeningly inconsistent.
A short while ago I posted here asking for help testing a new GB Video Player I was developing. Thanks to some good feedback, I've released that app today.
Features
Search, watch, and download videos
Cast videos using Google Cast
Create queues of videos
Autoplay episodes
Picture in Picture
Track your progress through shows and videos
All features are available on all devices, from iPhones to iPads to Macs
Same login issues. I gave them my login details, but they said they were able to access a way to pay, so it was a no go. Weird thing is that changing to the WKWebView got it through for some reason, and they've not rejected in TF since.
I've resubmitted with a lot of custom CSS injected to hide any links to signup/the rest of the site, as well as some JS - Swift bridging to automate the process a bit. Hopefully that's enough for them
Yeah, I've been trying to push back a bit, but they've been pretty persistent. Even with Sign-In With Apple, they've been incredibly insistent. My flow is exactly the same as yours is with Bomb Cyclone, but I didn't want to draw any attention to it on the off chance that impacted you.
I'm going to try the whitelist (thanks @ev77) and also use some injected CSS to hide the links to other parts of the GB website
I've recently submitted a Giant Bomb video app to the app store, that has been constantly rejected because it provides a way of making an in app purchase.
It seems that in the log in flow, it is possible to get to the sign up page and pay for a subscription, and so they keep rejecting my app.
I've been working on a new Giant Bomb app as a method for learning Swift and SwiftUI. I ended up liking the direction it took and will likely end up releasing it on the iOS and Mac app stores.
It's still early enough that there a probably a ton of kinks in it, and it's definitely not feature complete either, but if anybody would be able to test it/suggest new features, that would be great.
I understand this isn't really a bug, but thought I'd share.
Recently (past week or two) my downspeed with Giant Bomb. Initially I thought there was a bug with the video player, since it would just stop every 5 seconds. Looking at the speed I get when downloading the video though, I'm not breaking 1MB/s, and often sitting around 300KB/s. This, clearly, isn't fast enough to stream HD videos.
I'm in the UK, with a connection that hits 250Mb/s most of the time, and regularly get 15-20MB down from other sites if downloading files.
