Playnite is a free open source videogame library manager. Think GOG Galaxy 2, but it actually works and is kept up to date by both the main developer and the community.

I've made a Giant Bomb metadata provider plugin for Playnite using the API. It can fetch, per game: characters, concepts, locations, objects, people, and themes. These can then be assigned to game genres or tags, optionally with a prefix per entity type. It also makes use of the wiki text, release date, platforms, and images (for the cover and background images).

It also adds a button in the top panel that allows you to search for a character, concept, object, or person, and add a tag/genre/category for it to every game in your library that's associated with that entity in the Giant Bomb wiki.

Here's the link to Playnite, and here's the Giant Bomb plugin.

Configuring metadata providers can be a little daunting, so I've written a short guide on it here.

Try it out!

PS it'd be great if there were a way to get every game associated with a location or theme via the API too!

For concepts, characters, people, and objects, there is a "games" field that contains all associated games. Why doesn't this exist for locations? Is there another relatively simple way to get a shallow list of associated games for locations (or for all game properties)?

EDIT: I'm also not able to find a way to get all games for a single theme. Is there one?
