@laika:

I use primarily Chrome, but tested in IE aswell to see whats up

Not only have I tried this but I have also been through a format since the start of the issue and still it persists.

NSLookup looks fine, resolves to external IP, tracert also looks good

will look for script errors next chance, but seeing as how i'm using newest chrome on 8.1, I would thing I would be ok in that department.

My chat only ever says "OK, we give up. The server is just not there.". Its been at least a couple months since I've last been able to get in the chat. No ad blockers, no firewalls, issues is in Chrome and IE both in win 8.1.

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps listed in this topic yet?

yes, ive even been through a format since then.

Previous thread went unsolved, emails have gone unanswered, and its such a shame because I really do like this site...

My original email:

Lately since after E3 i've been having issues seeing the live chat. It always says 0 chatting and just sits at the "It's taking a little longer to log into the chat this time" screen for the entire stream. I haven't gotten into it once since E3. It may be related to an issue I had recently where I logged in once and noticed for whatever reason I was no longer a premium user, rather than go through support or anything I decided to just sign up for it again because I didn't want to miss a show about to go live, so I was double charged for that month, hopefully i am not just going to be double charged for every month from now on, but possibly that has something to do with whatever else I broke.

The issue has persisted, I get that the chat is buggy and doesn't work a lot, but it has not worked a single time for me since E3, it just says "OK, we give up. The server is just not there."

This is from the same company that is charging users $4.99 to play Final Fantasy XIII from the PS3 streaming on the PS4 using PS Now, and $29.99 for 90 days.... Go home Sony, you're drunk...

@amafi: Correct, but with MS pressuring the use of their standard this will never happen, more and more games are releasing with XInput only support.

@nodima: Having drivers is not the issue, the DS4 just uses DirectInput and windows PCs have had those drivers since doom lol.

@markonfire: Cannot discount anything, but I can't imagine why steam would do this, detecting the difference is a basic thing any program can do, but I doubt they would get into controller configurations any more than they already have, which is not at all.
