GOTY 2020

Probably would be on the list if I had a PS5:

* Spiderman Miles Morales

* Demons Souls

Probably would be a contender if I could handle them in the year of 2020:

* Last of us part 2

Runners up:

* Animal Crossing New Horizons

* Tony Hawk 1+2 remake

* C&C Remastered Collection

* AC Valhalla

I haven't played enough of:

* Baldur's Gate 3

* Cyberpunk 2077

* Ghostrunner

* Caves of Qud

* Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

* Crusader Kings 3

* Paradise Killer

List items

  • Ichiban won my heart, it's goofy in all the right ways but simultaneously has one of the best representations of being in the dregs of society. GB's Alex said this is a game that celebrates scumbags, I agree and can't wait to see what this studio does with these characters next.

  • Possibly the greatest JRPG of all time at this point. Royal's new additions managed to make what was already a masterpiece even better.

  • Fantastic modern interpretation of FF7, some bad story choices towards the end but if this is the gameplay direction final fantasy uses going forward that is very exciting.

  • Not released in 2020, but this was the year I got _way_ into the Yakuza series and it all started here. Amazing entry point.

  • I need to play more of this.

  • Gameplay.

  • 2020 is the year that I got into Formula 1, fortunately this coincided with one of the best releases of a f1 game in years. The "My Team" mode is great fun and I have spent many hours now lapping the worlds greatest circuits.

    I bought a damn wheel.

  • They made WoW good again! Funnily enough they did this by introducing many more mechanics which respect your time. Great art and world design, kept me captivated for a month or two.

  • The best open world game I've played this year, fantastic style and great swordplay.

  • Placeholder: may be usurped by KRZ.

    Great action shooter, verging on too many mechanics at this point though. It doesn't strike the correct balance quite like the 2016 Doom did but it's still great fun.

  • Used game pass as an opportunity to finally play this game. It's really, really great!

  • The open road brings solace in a dreadful year.
