Most Anticipated Games of E32011

E3 Has come and gone.  There were a few disappointments this year, but there were some pleasant surprises as well.  Here's my top 15 most wanted.

List items

  • Maybe not the best showing at the show, but man am I excited for this! The new melee attacks, the expanded customization, the improved shooting, and the fantastic lighting all look great. Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I can't wait to finish Shepard's story. Already preordered, and probably the only collectors edition I'll ever get.

  • Wow, this one really came out of no where. Everything I've seen and heard about this game looks amazing. Can't wait to start doing some Bladerunnin' in one of the coolest open worlds I've ever seen.

  • If the shooting can been brought up to the same level as the presentation, this game is going to blow me away.

  • Another huge surprise for me. Saint's Row 2 was an extremely fun game, and this one seems leaps and bounds better in every way. The orbital strikes, the VTOL, the handling on the cars, all the crazy pedestrian melee... This game is going to be insane! I just hope the terrible accent for the main character returns.

  • Not blown away by what they've shown but this one definitely gets the benefit of the doubt based on track record. The Assassin's Creed games just keep getting better so let's hope the trend continues.

  • Hopefully this game can live up to it's awesome trailer.

  • I was a huge fan of BC2's multiplayer, so this one is pretty much a no-brainer. I just hope I can still use my beloved SAW.

  • Would probably be more excited for this if Cat Woman weren't a playable character, but what can you do. The fist game was awesome, and it seems like it's only gotten better. With the extensive rogues gallery already revealed it seems unlikely, but I'd love it if Clayface makes an appearance.

  • It looks like an Uncharted game, and that's one of the highest compliments I can give. What more do I have to say.

  • Never played the first one but I hear the story's great, and everything else sucks. The gameplay and visual style in this one look pretty good so hopefully it will all come together for this sequel.

  • I'm not much of a Gears fan, but this Gears clone looks pretty sweet. (Of course, I said the same thing the first time I saw Quantum Theory...) The gravity stuff looks cool, and I always love a telekinesis mechanic.

  • I pretty much wrote Tomb Raider off in the 90's, but maybe Lara's going to finally earn that household name of hers.

  • I've been following this one for years, and although I'm not overly impressed by what was shown this year, hopefully this fallout-meets-borderlands FPS will be worth the wait.

  • The little I've seen of this one was pretty wild, and the jumps between different play styles during the boss battle were pretty cool.

  • The emphasis on American muscle cars and a new lighting model has left me more interested than expected in this fantastic looking game. I found Forza 3 surprisingly relaxing and I look forward to some more heavily assisted low-impact driving.

  • I've tried every game in the series going back to Daggerfall, but have never been able to get into them for more than a couple hours. I was ready to write this one off completely until I saw that dragon attack. I think they've tricked me again.
