It's been a very long time since I've played around with the bikes add-on to this game, and I don't remember much beyond what I've just read. That said, as someone who rides a motorcycle every day and appreciates their inherent awesomeness, I'd have to guess there were probably at least a few people like me at Criterion who had that passion and just wanted to find a way to squeeze what they loved into their game, even if it was a bit of a square-peg-round-hole scenario, as you mention. I have to imagine it was a quick project--something they probably knew all along was more of a gimmick. Thinking about it in that context, it's a cool thing they did injecting some passion into their game after the fact, but it's ultimately not super meaningful.
Now I want to go back and play Paradise though. I actually tried to a couple days ago but couldn't get it to recognize my controller on PC, which seemed odd...
Modern Warfare was the last one of these I played with any earnestness. Now that I think about it, it was the first as well. Great game. I'd play it again at a higher resolution. New game seems okay too I guess.
@humanity: Not specifically related to only Transistor, but at this point I don't think anyone is surprised when they see you commenting that you don't like something.
Call me the Jeff Gerstmann of the comments section!
But if it makes you feel any better here are some games that came out recently which I liked, and some games that I'm looking forward to!
Hyper Light Drifter I wrote many times is a great game, check it out!
Hitman - solid first episode, a ton of choices and a lot of signature Hitman "humor" if you will
The Division I thought was a lot of fun from beginning to end
As for May I am excited about:
In the far off horizon I am really looking forward to the new Deus Ex game which I hope to play on PC!
So as you can see, despite appearances I do actually like a whole bunch of stuff! Kind of weird of you to single me out like this, I mean c'mon Mike if I had a dollar for every time I saw you post about how you don't own any consoles I could retire early!
Like @falconer, I wish this was coming to Xbox. I guess I'll just check out the PC version.
