I haven't been on the site much for, like, 3-4 years now, but the news of y'alls departures still hit me hard. Only the fondest memories, all the way back to the On the Spot days, and I hope you all know just how big of an impact you had on some people's lives; got me through some of the worst years of my life. So thank you so much for the years of content and (indirect) emotional support. Wish all of you the best of luck in the future.

Yeah not loving this format. I get the idea that the staff's opinions on games are covered well enough on the bombcast and other live / recorded video throughout the week, but stapling on an additional hour of free-form discussion as a replacement for a review does nothing for me.

The benefit of a written review is that it forces the writer to focus down and more directly articulate their impressions / opinions of a game. Turning reviews into yet another podcast feels EVEN MORE redundant than a written review. Different mediums have different strengths; written reviews both ask something different of the reviewer and, resultantly, produce something different as an end result than the podcast format does. I can accept the notion that that end product isn't perceived by the staff as being of significant enough value to the site to justify the time investment required to produce it, but sitting down and recording an hour of meandering audio to replace it kind of feels like it flies in the face of that notion. On the flip side, if people like it, then cool; I'm not offended by it, nor do I think it signals the "end of giantbomb." This just feels redundant, and makes it seem as if the opposition to written reviews on the staff's part emerges more out of a lack of interest in the written form than it does from reviews being somehow duplicative of other content.

If this format continues, I think it'd be great to at least try to create something more structured, directed, concise, and distinct from the usual bombcast discussions of the games the staff has been playing. Just one man's opinion, though.

Yeah, the stuttering that happens after those overlays is really annoying. vmix memory leak or something?

Oh man thank god. Hadn't seen anyone mention this before and I thought I was going insane. I do think the graphics are a bit long and take up too much of the screen (I wanna see bummed Jeff), but that I can cope with. The stuttering, though, is legitimately unpleasant to watch and seems like it continues even after the animation plays.

Snakebird's great on mobile, and Synthetik looks intriguing. Really enjoy these sorts of request streams.
