Ghosts was cut from best looking for being an open world game and somehow Ori was retained despite a sun flare blinding the middle of the screen constantly.
I feel like I'm one of the few people here that have seen DP2 the whole way through, so I'll offer a few things. There's actually a point a few hours into the game where York goes off on a huge rant because Patricia's dad, and heck a good portion of the town, is pretty transphobic about one of the town's residents. York becomes incredulous that people can't accept others for who they are and even tears into her dad a bit when he waves him on the radio. Also, as far as I can remember, most of the people who deadname are a-holes like the resident's father who could never truly accept her.
So I'm about 8 hours in. Still in the prologue. It's... not great so far. The gunplay isn't fun. The world and setting is depressing (makes me not want to explore it). Every single side mission so far is, "hey the [insert gang here] has [occupied this space / kidnapped someone / has something you need to steal]. Get to it". I spent hours wandering the city, accomplishing a very minor amount of armor, materials, weapons, and money with no joyful memories to recite. It all blended together in a mess of just shooting gang members with some charging weapons.
I hope the game somehow hooks me in because, well... I paid for it. If nothing changes I'll likely start skipping all the side content and just mainline the game.
Looks unfortunate. Just real plastic and chunky. Hades has completely spoiled me on my Olympian/Chthonic god fix for this year and Genshin took me by storm on all fronts. This doesn't have any space left to squeeze into.
I can't believe how hard this game has sucked me in. It's just so much fun to explore the map and see what drops you get. Honestly I love giving back to free games if they're worth it (e.g. Warframe), but I refuse to ever spend more than the price of a full retail game, so I'm happy to say I've supported this game while not also going insane on the rolls (less than $60).
Will I feel the need to grind out materials once I hit the wall at around AR35? Probably not. Will I slow down once I've explored most of the map? Most likely. I've spent money as if it was a full retail game and gotten dozens of hours out of it. It was a great experience so far and, quite frankly, will probably make my game of the year list.
Well this seems rather... quirky. It feels like a Pokemon game made by the Adventure Time universe and, unfortunately, that isn't something I'm looking for.
I had no idea this game was going to be as crazy good as it is from all the small snippets of video we saw up to release. Now, at the end of the title and a platinum trophy: I can't say I have even the slightest quibble aside from a grandiose wish of two actual story paths. That loading time is wizardry I can't believe it.
