I made a tight, short level that I'm proud of. Come try out Jump Man Vs. The Lakitu Highway!

I used to, particularly last year, which sucked some of the fun out of what I played. Fortunately last year's GOTY discussions were so negative that they broke me out of the habit of binge-listening and this year I'm just playing stuff at my own pace. I'm not in a rush to hear things discussed like I would have been.

The TV show art style is off-putting to me. The colors are so flat and the characters are so undetailed, even by the standards of the old show. There's a bunch of stuff in the series that I think I'd enjoy, but right now it feels annoying to look at.

Going from 1080 to 2080 like this made me check to make sure it wasn't April 1st. It feels like a gag.

No way will I be able to afford one of these cards.

It really depends on your area. I live in a small rural town. There is a bar that gets very little turn out. The local library has regular functions where you can meet folks. There are plays at the local high school, and sports games. There's a church with regular Sunday services. The local supermarket has a cork board where people put up ads for cook-outs, concerts, and public events. Our neighborhood has a board of directors that also allows for some socializing, although recently they discontinued the annual cook-out.

Each of these is an opportunity to meet people. You can usually find these even in the smallest towns congregating around resources.

Nobody who seriously talks about "beta males" is worth listening to.

Celeste and God of War are the only things that I could really get behind so far this year. Hoping it's a busy autumn.

I might be an outlier, but the 2010s have been the best decade of gaming in my lifetime, easily. The NES and SNES's output can't match what's gone on in the indies and the advances in AAA gaming.

By that standard, where Mass Effect 2, LIMBO, Witcher 3, and the Dark Souls series are some of my favorite games ever made, 2018 has been an "off" year in that I've played great but not absolutely top-tier things. Celeste and God of War 4 have been the best I've played yet, and I'd put them well below last year's Hollow Knight, Breath of the Wild, and Original Sin 2.

But that off-ness barely matters, because Celeste and God of War 4 are both great. As it is, I'm still hungry for the free time necessary to get to Subnautica, Frostpunk, and State of Decay 2. Dead Cells can't leave Early Access soon enough. This might be a year with fewer all-time memorable titles, but it still has steadily produced things I've enjoyed.

There has never been a good 3D Mario game.

Also, Rockstar's writing has never been good. For a while I excused them for badly aping film and TV since that was the industry standard. Now Naughty Dog has delivered actually good imitations of that form, and so many other games are more regularly exploring how to tell stories distinct to the medium. Cynicism for cynicism's sake, endless chains of worthless quest givers, and "the world is dark" outcomes can't be saved by an amazing musical selection.
