Games Completed: 2015

Here we go, here we go, again.

List items

  • Completed January 3. Or rather, my friend and I played through the arcade mode cooperatively.

  • Completed January 15. When Jenny and I purchased our PS4 after Christmas, we acquired the version that came with a digital voucher for one of four games, and this is what we chose.

Very similar to Far Cry 3, which I thoroughly enjoyed. As a result, I very much enjoyed this game too, but it's impact on me was lessened.

  • Completed January 17. Or rather, I obtained all of the achievements in the Xbox Live Arcade version.

  • Completed January 21. I began playing this on November 29, 2014 and after nearly two months and roughly hours, I've completed it!

My enjoyment with the game mirrored a negative bell curve. The front and back thirds were enjoyable, while the middle section grew thin. Then again, around that time my focus turned to binge-watching The X-Files, so that had a lot to do with it...

  • Completed January 23. Truly, the first time I beat this was a month or so after the PS4 launched and my friend let me borrow his. This was the first time we played through it co-op, however.

  • Completed January 25. Much like Resogun, I truly beat this when it originally launched. Another friend and I played through the entirety of it this Sunday though.

  • Completed February 2.

  • Completed February 7. Or rather, I obtained all of the achievements in the Android version.

  • Completed February 21. I played through this on the Wii compilation with its sequel.

  • Completed February 27.

  • Completed February 28. Like its predecessor, I played the Wii port.

  • Completed March 28. One of the greatest, albeit conservative, JRPGs I've played. Some characters were whack, but a lot of it came together well after an hour or so. Skills were such an addictive addition to an otherwise basic combat system.

  • Completed April 15. One of the first games that I recorded myself playing. Just a fantastic racer with a wonderful blend of realism and fun gameplay.

  • Completed April 25. This is where it's at! A single-player focused FPS with absolutely no multiplayer!? Give this studio an award because not only did they do it, they did it so well!

  • Completed April 26. Played through this with a friend, and didn't come out on the other end finding many (any?) songs by the group that I wasn't already into.

  • Completed May 6. This on the other hand yielded some Van Halen deep cuts that I dug! A few new rocking tracks added to my favorite playlists.

  • Completed May 10. With the announcement of a new Star Ocean, I figured it was time to finally experience this series. So, why not start at the beginning? Overall, a very basic and monotonous JRPG with great potential that wasn't executed on either because of the rookie staff or limitations of the original hardware.

  • Completed May 16. One night a friend suggested we play the Sega 32X and Doom was our choice. We proceeded to beat it in one sitting! Not the greatest port, but a damn fine one nonetheless.

  • Completed May 22. With my friend's recent acquisition of an Xbox One, one of my first suggestions to him was this Swery65 title. Definitely weird, and at the very least, decent.

  • Completed June 5. One of, if not the, most gripping narratives I've experienced in a video game. Only slightly a video really, more of an interactive experience, but one I'm glad the industry can claim as it's own.

  • Completed June 16. While recording videos of Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD games I popped this one in and went to town, eventually beating it. It's a decent point-and-click adventure game with FAQ requiring game progression and awful "arcade" sequences. Heavily inspired by Blade Runner and maybe even Big Trouble in Little China, it was still a decent playthrough, despite having to completely restart twice!
