My Introduction

Greetings fellow Giant Bombers.

For quite some time now I've followed Giant Bomb and now I feel it's time to give back and get more involved in the community. Also, truth be told, I've been looking for a creative outlet for some time now and for the time being anyway, becoming involved in the GB community will do. But enough blabbering, it's time I got subject of this blog post and actually introduced myself.

I'll start with a bit about myself. My name is Joseph and I come from Scotland. I'm 17 years old and a student who is about to embark on university life later this year in September, but more about that later. I love videogames and have played them all my life but have other interests such as books and comic books, computers and programming and even the odd spot of cooking.

Like I said above, this year marks the start of my university life for which I'll be forced to move away from home and only have the opportunity to return at holidays. If I'm honest though I'm quite looking forward to it all, I've done decent in school and guaranteed myself a place at one university that can act as backup in case my grades this year fall below expectations and I do not gain entry onto my first choice of course. I've only received replies from two of the five courses I've applied for though, so as you might expect, it's an anxious time as I await responses from the other universities.

For anyone who is interested, I've applied for 4 Electronic & Electrical Engineering courses (or EEE as it can be referred to as) and 1 Computer Science course and have heard back from 2 of the EEE courses so far.

To co-inside with preparing to move away from home, I'm also having to create a list of everything I might need to survive student life, on my own in the big city. I live in a small town at the moment. As it stands, I think I've got everything I might need on the list but the two items giving me the most grief are a new phone, my current is essentially dead, and a new laptop or computer. Perhaps I'll turn to further advice in the forms regarding my phone and laptop / computer situation but as far as introductions go there's not much more to say really and so I'll close up by giving a quick summary of what I'm playing, reading, etc.

In terms of games, I'm currently working my way through Fable 3. The recent quick look of Fable HD got me craving entering into the Terry Pratchet / Monty Python world of Albion. I'm enjoying what I've played so far but seem to have broken the games economy slightly early on as the amount of money I have pouring in allows me to purchase almost any shop, house or item that I encounter. I'm also working my way through Persona 4 Golden on the vita but that's what I'm dubbing my weekend game as I only have sufficient amounts of free time at weekends to play it.

In terms of books, I just finished Replay The History Of Video Games by Tristan Donovan and I urge you to pick it up and give it a read. I think I'll start a new book tonight and my choices are Reaper Man by Terry Pratchet or The Fellowship of The Ring. I'll most likely go with LOTR, I've been meaning to read it for quite some time now.

Until next time.
