@drewmaw: Considering the time it would take to reprogram most of the game just to make it fun, it would probably cost more than if they had started from scratch. You also have to consider the possibility of the code being poorly documented by the original developer. The studio was going crazy as it was, with the rush to release the game, it is very likely they did not document anything. If they wanted to change enough of the code to make the game fun to play, they would probably end up spending close to two years trying to figure it all out.
My guess is they will just strip the systems in place for acquiring new clothing/guns and make them available through micro-transactions. That is most likely all they will do.
" Wow, you really are a bunch of whiny idiots. Something goes up by less than a $1 every month and you are talking about canceling your subscription? Pathetic. "
It's actually more than the price increase. A mention of the price going up causes us to think about if it is worth that cost. I have been paying for Live every year since a year before the 360 came out. I haven't played a game online on the 360 since CoD4. This has made me think about that money going to nothing.
Granted, with or without the price increase, I am wasting money. The point is, the news post about price reminds you of that money you are spending.
I plan on doing something along these lines until I hit the bottom. After that, I will start from the top again, but branching off.
The long term goal is the have a huge underground network that I know my way around that covers the entire world (yes, I know it's huge.)
While expanding my tunnel system, I plan to make a bow and tons of arrows. At which point, I will begin building on the surface. I am waiting for the bow so I can shoot monsters from the top of my walls :)
