@bigsocrates: I didn't ask you to explain to me how BC works. I'd want a hypothetical PS5 to innately play PS4 games. I'm aware there are well-working and official PS2 emulators for the PS4; I realize a PS5 is going to have a power advantage; and all that said, I still don't inherently expect a PS5 to outright play PSX through PS3. If it handles any of that, great; but if it doesn't, I won't be shocked.

::edit:: And let me just say, I'm not trying to be a dick with the above comment; I'm just not trying to have that conversation.

@bigsocrates: I'm speaking hardware-based BC, not emulators, since that's always going to be more a roll of the dice. As I said, I'm not going to hold my breath that a hypothetical PS5 would ship with a solution for PSX through PS3, but I'd want the system to innately play PS4 games.

I didn't bother with the poll, because there's too much on it, but backwards compatibility matters to me, going from this to the next generation. Console-wise, I'd be coming from the PS4, and technically, a successor system should at least be able to play it's predecessor's games. I won't be holding my breath for any manner of compatibility for PSX through PS3.

Backwards compatibility on a hypothetical PS5 would probably mean the difference between a launch/near-launch purchase and waiting until there's a game, or multiple games, that I want to buy.

I thought Lizardcube's work on "Wonder Boy" was fantastic, but what they're showing in the announcement video does nothing for me and leaves me thinking they don't have the appropriate style for SoR. The music, similarly, doesn't excite. We'll see how things go; hopefully my initial take will change for the better.

My main concern with Sekiro is whether the mechanics will hold-up over the course of the game. Of the videos I've watched from Gamescom, most (if not all) reiterate how it's not a Souls title and should be played differently, then proceed to roll around and kite the larger enemies in the demo. I'm very much into the game's concept and aesthetic, but haven't been sold on the combat, as it's currently being put on display. The grappling mechanic looks fun, though.

There will, of course, be more videos, both from the developer and media, but it'd be nice to get a public demo. Regardless, I'm looking forward to Sekiro.

@ohcollusion: Yeah, I'm aware of SF5's DLC being account locked; it goes along with me not wanting to support the game, because of how they've chosen to sell it. BBCross Tag isn't quite my thing, but I do play other Arc System Works games. ASW tends to get crap for how they handle updates, but regardless of whether their installments are overpriced, as someone who does prefer a decent amount of single-player content, I appreciate the new story & character materials that gets added to their titles.

@stantongrouse: I didn't particularly like SF4 for a variety of reasons, and I wish SF5 hadn't continued its predecessor's aesthetic direction, but what little I've played of SF5 has seemed more enjoyable. Still, I can completely appreciate modern fighters being harder to get into for many people.

At the moment, the only game I probably keep telling myself not to buy is Street Fighter 5. I have no delusions about being legitimately competitive, but the mechanics look fun and I'm a long-time fan of fighting games (and SF). That said, I completely disagree with how the game is being sold, and I know even if I purchase SF5: Arcade Edition, I'll still feel the need to add the newest season of characters, which will erase any monetary savings. With the single-player content being fairly garbage, what's left is bare-bones software for someone who isn't much interested in getting routinely destroyed online.

@bollard: If you haven't heard it already, you might like "Preserved Rose," another Mizuki-TMR joint. I kinda dig this live version (vid link) more than the studio track (vid link), but it's a catchy tune, either way.

@alkusanagi: The show's official US premiere is at this year's Otakon, with a related panel in about thirty minutes and subtitled screening of the first two episodes later in the day. There's a good chance something will be announced, regarding its eventual availability, at least in the US .

::edit:: The show is another Netflix casualty and will be available on the service in December 2018 (ANN article).
