Which shows you're either high or can't read. I never said any such thing. All I said was that the character was clearly based on a particular stereotype popular in Japanese porn. You haven't actually even tried to make the argument that I'm wrong. I'd welcome an attempt, as I've said, but I've yet to see it. "

Vanille is the overly energetic and excessively cheerful young girl that has appeared in so many stories acroos many different forms of media. Rikku, Yuffie, and Selphie were similar character types in previous FF games. Saying it was based off of a pornographic stereotype seems like a stretch given that her character type is very common across non-hentai media forms.

Also, I wasn't referring to you with my prior comment.

Is this forum really at such a low place where liking FFXIII makes you a hentai fan? Seriously?

I actually found that the bigger problem in XIII was that in the first two chapters you have no access to paradigms or the crystarium. I get that they wanted to introduce the battle system one step at a time, but they waited too long. I was getting bored with it by the middle of chapter 2, but once I got to chapter 3 my enjoyment with the game rose exponentially, and had fun with the game the rest of the way.

Anyway, most I agree with, but I *like* inventory management. I find that kind of thing very satisfying. I guess the best example would be SS2, where it adds to the atmosphere. Deciding, for example, whether you want to keep ammo or healing items, strongly contributes to the survival nature of the game. "
Yeah, I agree. Inventory management is often poorly executed, but when done well it can add to the game. I like those parts where I have to make a decision between certain items, like whether I think I need more ammo or more health.

The portrayal of almost anything in the modern media is generally full of stereotypes and inaccuracies. It's not just gamers.  Start to learn about any subject and I guarantee that you'll become more aware of how misunderstood the area is with portrayals in popular culture. A personal example for me has been psychology- the more I learn about it, the more I become aware of how many misconceptions exist. The people who write these shows don't really do the research, or they know the misconceptions exist but don't want to challenge them, instead choosing to go with the flow.

It's just a basic fact of the media.

" @Hailinel: I just used save crawling to get an A on every mission, took forever though.  Oh yeah and Catherine!  Did anyone say that yet?  Probably huh. "
Catherine isn't an RPG.

And JRPGs have only died to those who aren't paying attention to handhelds. There are tons of awesome JRPGs to choose from already out, and several more are on the way.

" You know, the real problem that video games have compared to other forms of media is the relatively high investment of time and money it takes. Movies cost 10 bucks for a ticket and are 2 hours long, but games can be as expensive as 60 bucks and some can take as long as 50 hours to complete. Some will take even more. Which means that if you're trying to decide on GOTY by the time the next year starts, it's almost impossible to have played a large amount of the games worthy of consideration.   To me that fact kind of lowers the value and credibility of these types of lists. Not that I think it was a bad idea or anything, I mean I participated myself, but when I see how this list ended up I can't help but think things would have been very different if there was a significant difference in terms of what games people actually played in the first place. Oh well, no big deal. "

Dude, I don't know about you, but I've played 38 of the top 60, and of the remaining twenty two, there's only about eight that I have any interest in whatsoever.  Most of that twenty two is games that are totally iterative (I've played enough Pokemon to know what new Pokemon plays like).   If you don't believe me, you can check my achievements/trophies.  I did not see 38 new movies last year.  But I played 38 (and more) new games in 2010. "
How does you personally not having that problem disprove my claim that most people would have that problem?

" @Juno500: Pretty sure with the Firewalker DLC and how the Hammerhead was implemented in the Overlord DLC we'll see the return to ME1 exploration in ME3. "
That doesn't really ensure anything. The Firewalker missions were just you going down a narrow pathway, it wasn't really exploration. I'd say that it's more likely that ME3 will have those types of vehicle missions as opposed to ME1 type exploration.
